Definitely one of the best times I've seen them in the last three years. I had to enjoy the first set from outside but got inside for the second set.

Nero was great at B-Sides as well, nice bar.

That was awesome. I think I can safely say that they are definitely in my top three favourite bands and even a contender for the top spot!

Sorry I didn't see you MarcO! I took a look around a couple of times thinking I'd be able to pick you out but no luck. [Frown] I did run into Kerri (sp?)! [big Grin] And we hooked up with Schrybes for a few brief moments after the show! [Cool]

Anyone want to go on a MMW tour? [Wink]

Another winner from one of my favorite live acts. Last night's show may have been the finest performance I've seen these guys lay down (only seen about 5 or 6 shows, though).

The great thing about experiencing MMW live is bearing witness to their onstage communication and flow. The interaction between John Medeski & Billy Martin in particular was a joy to behold. Billy Martin is hands down one of my favorite drummers. I just love the underlying swing and groove he brings to even the most experimental jams. I would be happy to watch him play solo all night, that would be great. Also, it really helps - imo - to see Medeski at work. Often, when listening to him, it's hard to tell what's what, but seeing him crawl like a mad scientist around his keyboard rigs really helps make what he's doing make a bit more sense. Took a couple of heart-rendering piano solos also, a true master. Chris Wood, solid as ever, can't say much more than that.

I couldn't really see very well stuck near the back so for Set 2, we moved up to the side of the stage, sort of behind them. Best seat in the house? Perhaps, hard to say, but from there we could see the audience getting their collective groove on, it was fun to watch minds being just blown. This seemed to be a fun, respectful audience. Lots of chatter near the back but good focus up front. As we were leaving, I glanced back to see security moving in on Kung as he paraded around the lip of the stage. A fitting ending. [Wink]

Thanks, paisley, for the ride in. Thanks, Willy, for the offer of the ride back. Didin't see you, but in the end we caught the bus and were home, safe, sound and happy, asleep by 1am. Great to see you again, Jay, and pleasure to meet you Dave. Sorry, we couldn't make it over to B-Side, the reality of morning's responsibilities beckoned.

A great night of music! [big Grin] Can we get these guys back for the Guelph Jazz Fest?!? [Eek!]
