I've been listening to the remastered "Filles de Kilimanjaro" and "Water Babies" the last couple of weeks, both of which (IIRC) are in that set, and yeah, this stuff is the bomb. Tony Williams is unbelievable in this period; hearing him duel (there's no other word for it, really) with Miles can be truly relevatory.

Another good one to pick up is "Live At The Fillmore East (March 7, 1970) / It's About That Time", two CDs from the great, lost, woefully unrecorded Miles Davis band (Miles Davis, Wayne Shorter, Chick Corea, Dave Holland, Jack DeJohnnette, Airto Moreira) from just after the "In A Silent Way" sessions.

(If you like reading bios, the book, "So What", by an author whose name escapes me at the moment, is excellent, especially the way it details the various bands and sessions [including those between 1975 and 1980 during Miles "retirement" that haven't been released yet] across Miles' career.)

Aloha,

Brad

Also fascinating is Davis' autobiography (I think it is just called "Miles", but I could be wrong). Provides excellent insight (biased, of course, but utterly honest) from the man himself.

Also amusing, because it contains the word "fuck" in as many variations as you can think of. Someone once counted, and determined that "fuck" appeared on average something like once every half-page - usually in the form of "motherfucker".

And yes, Water Babies and Filles de Kilimanjaro are indeed on the complete sessions set that secondtube just got. Nice acquisition, Steve!

(I miss my CDs... sitting all lonely in my parents' basement, waiting for me to come home and show them some love... [Frown] )
