tweezer2001
SASQUATCH 2006- The GORGE [color:blue]This was an awesome weekend of music. Here area few highlights. TRAGICALLY HIP Was the first band to play after a crazy 30 minute hail storm that ruined Neko Case’s set. Sam Roberts and other bands never even got to play their set. Sasquatch Hail Storm As usual it was a great set by the HIP, they dedicated their set to Neko Case who was beat off the stage by the storm. QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE After a few days thinking about it, I came to the conclusion that QOTSA had the best show of the whole weekend in my opinion. I was never a fan and listened to them a bit. I really had no idea. Josh Homme? They commanded you to listen and when you did there was no turning back. They blew the audience away including us. Brilliantly intense. They seem to be credited around the internet as the best show of the weekend. I would have to agree. Before the festival I would have never thought by looking at the line up that QOTSA would be the show not to miss. I will be watching this band from now on ! DEATHE CAB FOR CUTIE They came on after QOTSA. As they walked out Ben Gibbard came up to the mic and said “We feel like a bunch pussies after that last set†They were blown away also. This was my second Death Cab show in a month. This first time I saw them they were co-headlining with Franz Ferdinand. I thought they were a much better band then Franz. The review in the Georgia Straight also thought so. There set at Sasquatch was just as good or even better. They were especially liked since they are from Seattle. BECK His show was awesome. Puppets of the band was a big part of the show. Very well done. They had a table jam that was incredible. They all ended up sitting at a dinner table and ended up have a percussion super jam. I don’t know what happened but at about 55 minutes into his set they went off the stage and never came back. The headliners were to play 1.5 to 2 hours. The audience was dumbfounded. Left me wanting more for sure. BEN HARPER and the INNOCENT CRIMINALS One of the best shows of the weekend. I had know idea that Ben Harper and his super band could rock like that. Awesome! FLAMING LIPS Very entertaining set. Lots of crazy characters on the colorful stage. They used one of those big see through balls you get into and roll around in, aka Peter Gabriel. SUFJAN STEVENS Being a big Sufjan fan I was stoked to see him. It was awesome to see him perform some of his great songs. Quirky show, very patriotic as you can see. Threw dozens of Super Man blow up dolls in the crowd. Thoroughly enjoyed. IRON & WINE Great surprise of the weekend. Went higher up to the grass to relax and listen. It was so good, sooo good . He played most of the set with his sister. Big fan now. GOMEZ Awesome set. One of the best shows of the weekend for sure. My second time seeing them and they have confirmed it for me. Fantastic band, not scared to improvise once and a while. Super FUN. NIN Entertaining show. Maybe my expectations were a bit high. The show was all smoke and lights. The music seemed to be second in importance. Reznor is cool. HIM Finland band. My first experience. Very different. I enjoyed their set, not sure how to describe them, Goth-Metal? ARCTIC MONKEYS Not a bad band at all for 19 year olds. A little obnoxious, I think they want to be like Oasis or something.
