Guest Low Roller
Well hot dog, with the Ottawa Bluesfest done and over with, it's time to start planning for the Ottawa Jazzfest. Here's a link to the festival web site. Ottawa Jazzfest Any recommendations on which shows will be worthwhile?
Ms.Huxtable
Well Scofield for sure. Bitches Brew Tribute Band could be good as well. I didn't recognize much else and still have a foggy head a la Bluesfest. Ottawa rules this summer!
hamilton
Go see Pat Martino - a very cool guitarist. You won't want to miss this one... Oh and Joey Defrancesco Trio might be good, too. He's a keyboard player - saw him with John McLaughlin a few years back. Lucky Ottawa bastards!!
bradm
Bitches Brew is also doing a two-night stand at the Bayou on July 25 and 26. Aside from Scofield and BB, I think the Rich Underhill Septet (RU is a former Shuffle Demon) and the Yellowjackets would be good. For those who work downtown, don't forget that there's usually jazz running in Confederation Park around lunchtime (and it's free, during the day), and bands playing at the World Exchange Plaza at lunchtime. Aloha, Brad
\/\/illy
Joey Defrancesco is AMAZING We paid $40 a pop to see him at the Orbit room earlier this year and it was one of the best shows I've ever seen. He's a wizard on the Hammond (apparently one of the best in the world) and his drummer was the most amazing, feeling drummer that I've ever witnessed live. Four thumbs up! Do not miss that show! I think we're getting a little spoiled this summer. Still, no Montréal though.
