Esau.
You are bidding on great regular season baseball player Alex Rodriguez. He is especially good agaisnt fine quality teams such as the Royals, Devil Rays, Rangers and any game where you have a 9 run lead. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=290037843795
afro poppa
thats hilarlious, but like a typical Yankee fan, the guy is over reacting...
Diggzz
A-Rod to T.O. for Vernon Wells, you heard it here first....
Kanada Kev
Just get Steinbrenner to take on 2/3rds of his salaray (or more) and he'd be a steal!! It's happened before (they were talkin' about the Doyle Alexander deal back in '85 on the radio this morning). Makes sense to me.
Booche
Question: What's 2/3rds of 108 million dollars? Answer: A shitload. Seriously. Can you believe that? He has 108 million dollars remaining on 4 years!!!! Ugh. That makes me sick.
Kanada Kev
yeah, but Steinbrenner is on the line for ALL of it. Nobody will take on that salary, that's why he'll have to pay somebody LARGE just to get rid of him.Yankee karma ... LOL ...
Diggzz
Thing is the Jays wouldn't even have to pay him that much, he is still getting part of his Yankee salary paid by Texas, then they Yanks would be paying another significant portion so the Jays would be on the hook for even less, as much as I love V-Dub, they have to cash in on him this off-season or lose him like they did with Carlos, still don't like the idea myself, but it would solve thier short-stop prob and add another bat.... Kanada Kev
That's right ... Texas is still paying 7million per year. Get Yankees to pay another 8 or 9 million and bam ... you've got a $10million A-Rod Not a bad deal at all. And he's probably play his ass off everytime the Jays played the Yanks. Kanada Kev
1. Anything is possible 2. Jays did this before with Steinbrenner (Doyle Alexander '85) 3. I could def use a Pop Tart {sld}
Diggzz
I actually heard it first on the Fox broadcast of the Yanks/Tigers game on Sat...ie. from the American broadcasters not Sportsnet... afro poppa
There is no way that the Jays trade Wells for Arod. The only way this even begins to be thought of happening is if Wells says that he won't come back to the Jays. Besides, the Yankees already have a CF, his name is Johnny Damon.
Booche
I assumed we werent supposed to believe that rumoured trade from the very beginning.

Diggzz
Vernon Wells is a a waaaaaaay better center-fielder than Johnny Damon (perennial Gold Glove Winner) and is a much better hitter, no matter what the Blue Jays offer Vernon Wells there are teams that will beat that offer by at least 6/7 million a year, if he wants to stay then great but if he wants to catch the gravy-train, his time is now...
