bradm
I just checked neroland, and the shows listing has: 08/28/2003 -Thu Syracuse, NY Empire Brewing Company - 2 sets This is the day before moe.down, and looks to be about an hour and a half from Turin, NY. IIRC, getting from Ottawa to Syracuse takes a few to several hours, so I'm thinking either a late-afternoon or dinner-time leave from Ottawa, get to Syracuse, enjoy two sets of nero (at a brewpub!), then have a leisurely drive the next morning to Turin, arriving in plenty of time to get in, get set up, and get prepared for the mayhem to come. Booche
Why would I have to wear saran wrap and tin foil? What kind of band is this?
Velvet
Okay, now I'm officially weirded out.

Yeah, have you seen some of their hard-core fans? They're a freak show on wheels... Aloha, Brda
Velvet
See you there Brad. There's no cover at the Syracuse show and from what I've heard the food there is great.

Velvet
No no no! It's not free food, it's free food covers! Apparently there will be saran wrap and tin foil handed out at the door. Or something. I'm not exactly sure.
bradm
I thought a "no cover" show meant naked nero...DVD, anybody? Aloha, Brad
Velvet
Hold on to your hats folks... Jimmy Swift Band has been added to the bill! JSB should be starting sometime between 10 and 10:30, then nero 'til 2. Empire Brewing Co. 120 Walton Street Syracuse
Velvet
I wonder if I should bump this thread, 'cuz I'm not sure that anybody caught the fact that nero and JSB are playing together for no cover a spittin' distance in time and space from moe.down. I just don't know if I want to admit to having enough computer savvy as to know what 'bump'ing is.
bradm
I definitely caught it, and it makes my resolve to get to this show all the more strong. Does anybody have any contacts down Syracuse way? It'd be great to get some NY folk out to this. Aloha, Brad

Weirdness
Just wanted to throw the ol' .02 in here if anyone is on the fence, the Empire Brewery is an awesome place, fantastic beers, fantastic root beer if you don't drink beer and excellent food to boot. Tasha(pickiest skank you could ever take out for dinner) loved it so much that she insisted on stealing a menu and left it posted to our fridge for over a year as a reminder of what trashy cooks we are!!! And, if you go, be sure to check out the record store a few doors down, they have an awesome selection of CD's, new Vinyl, DVD's and hard to find items. Last time we were there, Martin Sexton just happened to be wandering around inside, so you just never know what's going to happen! Plus, I heard that Rob from moe. is going to sit in with the boys on "Freebird", so you won't want to miss that one!!!

Rossolee
I might be up for this, depending when I can get my caravan together to leave. Anyways, The Empire Brewery is in Syracuses Armory Square district, lots of bars and restaurants. Check out The Blue Tusk for a killer variety of beer on tap, and a few block away is Dinosaur BBQ! Not to be missed!! http://www.bluetusk.com/ http://www.dinosaurbarbque.com/
