Recommended Posts

I've never picked the question of the day...but I'm bored so here we go...

as I was going through my CD collection I was thinking of certain CD's and songs that put me in certain moods ( happy/ sad/ angry/ etc)

and it got me thinking am I the only one?.. are there any CDs or songs that make the moment for you?

for me

The Eagles- greatest hits volume 1 ; makes me just chilax

[Razz]

REM- automatic for the people ; makes me cry forever

[Frown]

Phish- Gotta Jiboo; makes me want to dance

[Cool]

Maceo Parker- Pass the peas; makes me wish I was that cool

and

Bob Dylan- Lay lady lay; makes me want to sleep with who's ever is singing it. [big Grin]

Lay, lady, lay, lay across my big brass bed

Lay, lady, lay, lay across my big brass bed

Whatever colors you have in your mind

I'll show them to you and you'll see them shine

Lay, lady, lay, lay across my big brass bed

Stay, lady, stay, stay with your man awhile

Until the break of day, let me see you make him smile

His clothes are dirty but his hands are clean

And you're the best thing that he's ever seen

Stay, lady, stay, stay with your man awhile

Why wait any longer for the world to begin

You can have your cake and eat it too

Why wait any longer for the one you love

When he's standing in front of you

Lay, lady, lay, lay across my big brass bed

Stay, lady, stay, stay while the night is still ahead

I long to see you in the morning light

I long to reach for you in the night

Stay, lady, stay, stay while the night is still ahead

so will hook up when i get back from the east coast then.

I think you'll actually have to sing it dude, not just copy-and-paste the lyrics! [Razz][Wink]

As for me...

"Sweet Pain" & "Mountains Win Again" by Blues Traveler both make me weep, particularly "Mountains" after Bobby Sheehan died. [Frown]

Lots of songs make me happy, but probably the one that always works is "Penny Lane." [smile]

"Pressing Lips" by The Pursuit of Happiness, "Ice Cream" by Sarah McLachlan and "Lover Lay Down" by DMB also make me particularly happy 'cus they all make me think of my wife. [big Grin]

I've been finding a lot of the lyrics on the new Blues Traveler album "Truth Be Told" have a lot of relevance right now for me 'cus of things myself and my friends and family are going through. Almost every song on there seems to relate to something I'm going through or somebody I know is going through... but maybe that's 'cus I've listened to it like 50 times since it came out, so it just seems that way! [Wink]

There are zillions, I could go on all day.

Peace,

Mr. M.

Best CD for gettin' it on:

Tuatara - Breaking the Ethers

crazy wordly tribal jazz

For anyone who's not framilair with this band:

quote:

R.E.M.'s Peter Buck is the selling point for this Seattle-based neo-beat instrumental quartet. The real stars here, though, are Critters Buggin' horn man Skerik and Screaming Trees/latter-day R.E.M. percussionist Barrett Martin. The well-integrated melange of bebop jazz, rock, world music, and lounge-y TV themes makes for a hugely entertaining listen.--Jeff Bateman

Nick Drake's " Pink Moon " makes me want to cry because it is that beautiful. Ditto, when I listen to songs by Lenny Breau.

The guitar solo on Frank Zappa's " Inca Roads " from You Can't Do That On Stage Anymore Vo. 2 gives me goosebumps.

" Machine Gun " from Jimi Hendrix & The Band Of Gypsies makes me laugh in disbelief.

" My Favourite Things " by John Coltrane pumps me up.

Robert Johnson's songs scare the living shit out of me, especially " Hellhound On My Trail " and " Stones In My Passway ".

Although I will never own any of her cds, Diana Krall's " music " makes me violent.

I have certain nostalgic feelings linking specific songs to past loves.

Angel by They Might be Giants -- Anna

Hard Headed Women by Cat Stevens -- Alice

You Sexy Thing by ???? -- Dara

I've had other women, but those are the only ones who've earned songs.

If I need to jsut jump around then I always play Highball with the Devil by Les Claypool.

A breezy Summer early Saturday afternoon makes me want to listen to some late Brent Mydland-era Grateful Dead.

Bruce Cockburn makes me want to eat Central-American food and write to my MP.

The New Deal make me want to nod my head in a repetitve motion and smile.

That song "I.... HATE.... EVERYTHING...... ABOUT YOU" makes me want to drive off a cliff.

Every Saturday night, before I go out, I always need to crank up "Off The Wall" by Michael Jackson for groovy inspiration.

The Beatles make me play air guitar and try out my best Beatles vocal harmonies.

Phish makes me want to obtain more Phish.

Neil Young makes me want to wear plaid.

Sanzwill Band make me want to drink.

That's all for now.... [big Grin]
