DevO
Just a heads up that Akron/Family, who were robbed in Toronto last night, are playing tonight in Guelph and tomorrow in Ottawa. I missed last night's show for Cinematic Orchestra but I sure would've liked to see 'em play.09-25 Guelph, Ontario - Vinyl 09-26 Ottawa, Ontario - Barrymore's Music Hall and10-18 Vancouver, British Columbia - Richard's on Richards

NewRider
Lousy thieves! What a crappy thing to do. I'll sadly be missing this show. I thought Bob Log III was playing with them?

bradm
so what is the schedule for these shows? I heard that there are a few bands playing in ottawa. The listings I've seen have three acts before Akron/Family: Ohbijou, Greg Davis, Megafaun.I think Bob Log III was originally on the bill, too, butWed 9/26/07 La Sala Rosa! Montreal QC ( sorry ottawa)Aloha,Brad

dave-O
I love this band. Barrymore's seems like way too big a venue for them though. Tell them to come back to George's in Sackville, please!
AD
Between sets why not go check out some of Ottawa's best bands, next door at Babylon, for free. The Recoilers, The Double Pumpers, Greenfield Main and Ukrainia! are playing Wednesday night as well. Did I mention it's free and the bands are really good? AD
Too hard to describe. Go and see for yourself if you like it or not. They're all different genres / styles, so if you don't like one band you might love the next.I think Greenfield Main and Ukrainia! would go over best with the people on this board. AD
Continuing the hijack...The Babylon show is a going away party for Whalesbone EC Stephen Vardy, who is moving to Newfoundland.Previously he was EC at Beckta and Par-fyum.
bradm
I love this band. Barrymore's seems like way too big a venue for them though. That's part of the reason I'm skipping this one tonight. If they were at a smaller venue with one opening act, I'd be there for sure, but at Barrymore's with three opening acts, I can see myself not enjoying myself for a lot of the night (especially given it's a mid-week show).Aloha,Brad

Booche
And there's the bell to end round 6. Boy, BradM really took one on the chin there. Let's see if his corner can snap him out of this one because he looks dazzled and dazzed.
Ms.Huxtable
So who's going tonight? I really want to see the Akron family but I'm with BradM on this one, the venue and the fact that there are three bands proceeding them is not really my bag.but... I REALLY want to see the Akron family. Think they'll return soon under different circumstances?
Booche
Think they'll return soon under different circumstances? I'll tell you after I wang-dang-doodle my way into a conversation with one of them tonight. All I know is the last time they played here was pretty much a year ago and before that it was something like 6-8 months since they had been here. So, I cant see it being any time soon.
dave-O
Yeah, going to see a great band at a great venue definitely sucks.?Didn't AD already solve your problem by recommending good bands playing for free next door?A/F is by far the most engaging new band I've seen in years, I pity the fool that misses out whenever they're within striking distance. AD
Also, there is a possibility that you might enjoy the opening acts. By the same logic I would never walk outside because I might trip and fall. It's a musical smorgasboard on Bank Street!
