c-towns Posted October 9, 2008 Report Posted October 9, 2008 I book a fair amount of last minute tickets and while booking today there was 3 seats left on the last flight leaving Freddy to Toronto for $1000 each. The Air Canada guy told me to do the following;Buy a ticket for the future with the same destinations(I got one for under $300) and come in an hour before the flight and switch the date to get on tonights flight, at most they can charge at the counter in the airport is $150, but the guy said he won't charge me anything. I guess its a gamble of someone buying the last 3 seats at $1000 a piece but people are on stand-by for the earlier flight, which if they get on, will open more seats on the later flight. It is Thanksgiving weekend which makes the stakes higher I guess but saving $700 might be worth it.Any tips on killing time in an airport?

c-towns Posted October 10, 2008 Author Report Posted October 10, 2008 Gamble won, saw YSPWSD, slept for an hour and caught a flight in the morning saving roughly 600-800.Can't wait to start over again on Tuesday.
dave-O Posted October 10, 2008 Report Posted October 10, 2008 I've been told that Air Canada flights out of Moncton and Fredericton have been averaging at over 95% capacity (or something around there) for the last year, while the airline industry standard is somewhere around 65-70%.There just aren't enough flights to get people the hell out of New Brunswick.
