Guest Low Roller
It seems that there is rarely a boring time in the NHL these days. The playoffs finished a couple of weeks ago, then it was the build up towards Booche's favorite event the draft, and now we get to watch GMs trip over each other trying to get to the best free agents by offering ridiculous contracts. So far we have the rumoured signings of Bouwmeester with Calgary and the confirmed one-year deal for Guerin with Pittsburgh. This next rumour, sure to please Sens fans, is Phaneuf for Heatley. Will that happen? Who knows.Keep posting whatever wacky rumours you hear here!
ollie
This next rumour, sure to please Sens fans, is Phaneuf for Heatley. Will that happen? Who knows.A Phillips-Phaneuf pairing would be pretty sweet.
c-towns
I'd hate to see Phaneuf in a Sens Jersey, likely as much as he'd hate to be in a Sens Jersey.

Jaimoe
Free Agent Frenzy day has been to this point a terrible waste of time. Nothing much really happens, unless you like to watch Kypreos and Darren Dreger trying to one-up each other with rumours.
Hal Johnson
Aren't the Leafs looking for another back-up? How fitting would this guy be?ESPN:For any team seeking a goaltending upgrade, Ed Belfour is tanned, rested and ready.BelfourThe future Hall of Famer, who turned 44 last April, is working out near his suburban Dallas home as he seeks a return to the NHL. Agent Ron Salcer confirmed that his long-time client has asked him to contact clubs to determine any interest level.Belfour hasn't played in the league since the 2006-07 season, when he worked 58 games for the Florida Panthers. On a non-playoff team in South Florida, Belfour posted a very respectable 27 wins, a 2.77 goals-against average and a .902 save percentage. In 2007-08, Belfour packed his pads for Sweden, playing 20 games (16 wins, 1.79 GAA, .921 SP) for Leksands. "The Eagle" didn't play in any professional league last season, but opted against making an official retirement announcement. Known as a fitness junkie, he kept in shape by training and competing in triathlons.During a brilliant 17-year career spanning 963 regular-season games with the Blackhawks, Sharks, Stars, Maple Leafs and Panthers, Belfour compiled 484 victories, ranking him third on the all-time list behind Martin Brodeur and Patrick Roy. The Carmen, Manitoba native participated in another 161 playoff games, posting 88 wins and a 2.16 GAA. Belfour made three trips to the Stanley Cup finals, backstopping the Dallas Stars to the title in 1999.While teams might be worried about his age and occasionally erratic off-ice behavior, Belfour still could be an affordable upgrade for several teams seeking goaltending help. Based on last season's play and subsequent offseason moves, the Avalanche, Flyers and Oilers are among a group of teams that might have an interest in the veteran. On his Web site, www.belfour.com, the legendary goalie talks about his love for the game and competition."I always wanted to play professional hockey," Belfour says. "Every hockey player's dream, no matter at what level or what age, is to play professionally. At first, you don't know what it's all about, but you have that dream and you always work hard toward it. The older you get, the more you start dedicating yourself to the game."

Booche
Ok, I lied but I just had to post this. Is Nik Antropov onfuckingcrack??? I wanted the Habs to trade for him at the deadline last year and even thought he might help them out at center with his size should he sign as a free agent but jesushfuckingchrist, dig this: Two sources told ESPN.com that Gandler asked the Rangers for five years at $5.25 million a year. Hal Johnson
I think ESPN is on crack today and they are making up stories b/c they know no one reads their hockey page, except the odd Canadian. But ya, wow, sure thing Nik, good luck with that!

dave-O
This is going to be something around here if that proposed Heatley deal goes through. I consider Gomez and Penner to be two of the worst contracts in the NHL today.

rubberdinghy
I really wish I could get my fucking hands on that arsehole.Penner does make a little too much money, but Smid is a rather large, young, D-man, and I guess Cogliano rhymes with Foligno.... Booche
I consider Gomez and Penner to be two of the worst contracts in the NHL today. Wade Redden called and wants to know if you still cheer for the Sens.::not defending Gomez's contract::And Heatley is a prickshow. Confirmed. I am shocked at how he is behaving. Is he an NFL player? The Sedin contract is a great one. I think it's going to set the bar for this year, which is making Gomez's deal that much harder to swallow. Gainey must have his hands tied though, its the only thing that makes sense. History has shown it in the past and he must be onto something this year. FML.
