weezy Posted February 14, 2003 Report Posted February 14, 2003 I believe it's happening in just about every city in the world (except Washington DC probably) In Vancouver, it starts around noon-ish at the Main Library downtown and proceeds to the art gallery. This could be the largest anti-war march ever - what's the deal out east? Maybe it's too cold to march? Everyone who gives a shit about life as you know it should get involved...
Vermontdave Posted February 14, 2003 Report Posted February 14, 2003 There are buses going to NYC from Vermont, but I'll be staying local. Hopefully there will be a good turn out in Burlington. It's not too late for the people of the world to unite with one voice! Unfortunatly I don't think the fucker in the White House cares
Esau Posted February 14, 2003 Report Posted February 14, 2003 quote: Everyone who gives a shit about life as you know it should get involved... Agreed. Weezy I just had to quote that. I support life and I beleive there is a better way to being dealing with this,Bush still hasn't shown me(at least me) any dam solid reason to be getting this extreme,I think all these anti-aircraft guns he has placed around Washington is nothing more then a scare tactic, and its pretty desperate when to gain support he has to scare the shit out of his own people to do it. paisley Posted February 14, 2003 Report Posted February 14, 2003 Myself and a number of friends in Hamilton are going to march in Toronto on Saturday... I don't have the final details at present as my e-mail is down but I'm expecting to see quite a crowd out braving the cold. All I know at present is things are starting up somewhere in Toronto at 10 am. Its our world too
DevO Posted February 14, 2003 Report Posted February 14, 2003 I'll be at the one in Toronto on Saturday afternoon. Click here and scroll down to see a list of all the cities around the world holding protests on Saturday (over 350!). And check out this article in today's Guardian (well-read newspaper from London, England) all about Saturday's actions.

peacedude Posted February 14, 2003 Report Posted February 14, 2003 I'll be there, but if I hear one anti-isreal remark I wont be a happy camper. If there were busses of schoolchildren being blown up in your streets you would take action to. I hate how these anti-war rallies can't just be anti-war.
Vermontdave Posted February 14, 2003 Report Posted February 14, 2003 amen, Peace-Dude! violence perpetuates violence.
paisley Posted February 14, 2003 Report Posted February 14, 2003 The issue is between the US and Iraq and that there is not a substantial reasoning for the US to invade and kill tens of thousands of innocents. Israel and Palestine are locked into a civil war, much like the IRA and England were and should be left alone to sort out their differences between themselves. There is no parallel between these causes. If someone does say something anti-Israeli ignore their ignorance of trying to confuse the issues. We are marching for peace in Iraq. We are marching against a growing American war machine.
Vermontdave Posted February 14, 2003 Report Posted February 14, 2003 John Muir once said, "The more we try to pick things apart, the more we find they're all connected." I agree. The shit going on right now is all related.
paisley Posted February 14, 2003 Report Posted February 14, 2003 agreed its all related... I'm going to protest the US machine's arrogant interference in other countries... the looming possibility of WWIII... I was just saying that anyone who is bashing Israel tomorrow (and with the Muslim church groups attending I'm sure it will be an issue) shouldn't ruin Peacedude's day... I'm hoping for solidarity amongst all those gathered in hopes and prayers for a better world
Vermontdave Posted February 14, 2003 Report Posted February 14, 2003 Much love to Paisley, and the Peace contingent in the west. The Iraqi people don't deserve American bombs.
Groove Fetish Posted February 14, 2003 Report Posted February 14, 2003 take the chance to make the collective point on saturday if you can. I won't be in toronto but there is a march in Guelph at the War Memorial Hall at 11 am to march to Brenda Elliots office.
peacedude Posted February 14, 2003 Report Posted February 14, 2003 Believe me, if I see them out there with their hate I will personally speak my mind to them. I just don't think a "rally for peace", is any place for a smokescreen for arab fundamentalism, thats all. It just boggles my mind how they can defend an administration that defends suicide bombers who blow up busses and clubs full of kids. I don't care about any kind of occupation, or anything. If kids were getting blown up on our busses I guarantee you the Canadian government would take the same hardliner stance. I don't blame them, there is no defence for radical fundamentalism. If they want to rally for that I would send them back to where they came from. Im hopeing for solidarity also on Saturday I heard that 50% of the Iraqi people are under the age of 15. If that is so they really dont deserve this, and now the states has declared they "Might" use nukes if need be... See everyone there
