skelter Posted January 5 Report Posted January 5 I just saw this news and thought of y'all. I never lived in Ottawa and didn't see many shows there so I never went to Dekcuf, but all the bands that played there played at the venues I booked in Kingston (Scherzo, Elixir, both long gone). I have the feeling that Ottawa's scene isn't what it used to be, so this will definitely help, and I'm septical of the Live Nation opening too - might be good for touring acts but will it do much for local musicians? https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/ottawa/cafe-dekcuf-closure-sparks-worry-over-ottawa-s-live-music-scene-1.7423191
Hartamophone Posted January 6 Report Posted January 6 It's a bummer, for sure. A dual blow to both the live music scene in general and Rideau Street specifically, which has seen a few cooler, destination businesses close in the last year amid a change in the culture downtown.
Davey Boy 2.0 Posted January 9 Report Posted January 9 You could almost say that Dekcuf turned it around in the dne.
