dancingbear
so just purchased my first ween album-chocolate and cheese. i think its the first album i have bought with advisatory warnings over explicit lyrics.....i felt so cool! (definitely strutted out of the store). seriously though i'm really digging it, although some of the lyrics make me laugh, cry, or try not to contemplate....that can be good lyrics or bad lyrics...mmmhh. anyhow was wondering what other album of ween's i should purchase....maybe another one with another person giving the finger to me as i open up the cruel, i mean jewel case.... Siloet
Forget about other albums, check out other bands... such as the "Prodigal Suns"!
paisley
Pure Guava was my first and still rocks my world The Pod is epic there are others on the board who can fill you in better, bump up this thread in the daytime
Blane
If you're liking Choc. and Cheese, I'd say Pure Guava is a good next step. The Pod and God Ween Satan are more like a giant leap from C&C. Some people really like "the mollusk", which has the same sort of production, but i'm not such a fan of the tunes. in short:
PalacePrincess
this is my kind of thread. first of all, a big high five for your superb taste in music , welcome to the world of ween!!! treat yourself to: -quebec, their newest album. -the white pepper album - 12 golden country greats is also a must (it gets extra props of browness for only having 10 songs on the album ) - the mollusk. it is a masterpiece. actually, they all are, really! and if you EVER have the chance to see them live, you MUST. take however much you like ween, multiply that by about a bajillion, & that's how you feel when you wake up the next morning after seeing them. MamaPink
quote:Originally posted by paisley: Pure Guava was my first and still rocks my world Same here Paisley! So hard to choose, they all kick ass... i would say go for the Mollusk or Quebec. Unless you're lookin' for more totally outrageous lyrics, in which case - go for Pure Guava. gentlemonkey
I'd reccommend following Palace Princess' advice.. I'd put Pure Guava tied with 12 country hits.. but they are all esstential listening. Good for you for biting the ween bullet.
shainhouse
'White Pepper' and the aforementioned 'Chocolate and Cheese' are my two favourites. I live '12 Golden Country Greats' too. Such an ambitious album, and they pulled it off beautifully.
guigsy
THE FUCKING MOLLUSK! from start to bloody finish!!! (realistically, tho, any ween is good ween....i just prefer the mollusk over anything else...by almost anyone else) edit: i always thought it was pretty interesting that i was introduced to ween and phish on the same day about 9 years ago...my cousin played me "pork roll egg and cheese" and then said "oh, you gotta hear this"...and played me bouncin' round the room, from A Live One...quite a seguay into a whole new world of music for a kid that was into ac/dc and kiss... Stapes
quote: so just purchased my first ween album I would recomend the Mollusk as your second purchase Followed by White Pepper, 12 Country Hits and Quebec. By then you should be able to appreciate the majesty of the first three albums.

Uncle Reg
Personally, White Pepper and 12 Country Greats are my two favs. I enjoy elements of the POD and was hooked to Chocolate and Cheese (both the album AND the foods) for a while. I have yet to hear a lot of Quebec, but it sounds like it's being recomended heavily.
