  1. Beyond the Pale is thrilled to announce the official release of our new CD "Consensus” on Borealis Records.

Recorded live in concert, the disc features over an hour of exciting music, including Klezmer, Yiddish, Romanian, Balkan, and unique genre-bending original compositions.

If you like hot acoustic roots music in the vein of Bela Fleck, David Grisman and the like, or if you want to know what eastern-European folk music filtered through a jamband sensibility sounds like, then you will dig our stuff.

Not convinced? Check out some MP3 samples, video clips, and more at: www.beyondthepale.net.

So, you are convinced? Purchase the CD toll-free at 1-877-530-4288, or online at www.borealisrecords.com.

  2. If you love the mandolin, especially bluegrass and its derivatives, DO NOT miss the Mandolins of the World show coming up this Sunday May 9, 3pm in Hamilton, at Hamilton Place Studio Theatre . This is the second edition of an ongoing concert series devoted to the mandolin. This show will feature the Creaking Tree String Quartet (bluegrass, newgrass), Ken Whiteley Trio (blues, folk, swing, gospel), Matapat (Quebecois folk and world music), and the 40-piece Toronto Mandolin Orchestra (Canadian & American Orchestral), with guest soloist Tamara Volskaya, an astounding virtuoso on the Domra (the Ukrainian version of the mandolin). I assure, you have not lived until you've heard a 40-piece mandolin orchestra! And the show will feature a stunning performance of Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue arranged for solo domra and mandolin orchestra. It's also a great activity for Mother's Day. Tickets available from Ticketmaster , Copps Coliseum Box Office, order by phone at 905-527-7666, or at the box office on the day of the show.
