Halloween Monday night means the Gypsy Jams will be oozing spooky goodness - bring yer tammambourines, drums, shakers, guitars, you name it (got keybords??). Let's make it the biggest, foot-stompin'est jam ever!

We're back! After 2 months off for renos and to give yours truly a vacation from the hosting and sound duties...

The Monday Night Gypsy Jams are slowly but surely becoming legendary. Our small core group of ya-hoos is attracting a growing circle of curious funksters making the event grow and mutate week by week.

Singer-songwriters, groovin' covers, improv jams and sometimes a rare and unpredictable comedy interlude unfold in the sweet, laid back living room vibe of the Gypsy lounge. Whether you've got a record deal or it's your first time on stage, there's room for you. Ego free and friendly. That's the way we likes it.

817 Queen west - every Monday night starting @ 10pm (rumour has it an earlier start time may be possible in coming weeks).

Feature act spots available for keeners and full-on bands. Bring yer friends... we're all smiles and good times.

Been a while since I last posted an update:

Tonight, we've got QR5 (www.qr5.com) as our feature act. They are a phenomenon, indeed! Pleasant to the senses, challenging, fun...

The rest of our Monday Night weekly party boasts an unpredictable mix of singer-songwriters, first time stage'rs, big jams and the usual spiraling into madness...

10pm start. Good beer. Laid back. Open stage.

To musicians and those who know musicians:

We are now featuring acts/bands in a 30-45 minute opening slot each week at the Monday Night Gypsy Jams! Email Geoff (seraphicserf@yahoo.ca) or come down and speak to me if you are interested in booking a slot. Wicked tunes and a great chance to showcase your talent.

Last week we featured the groove-rock-inspired explosion, "Traveler" (featuring Akim with his powerful vocals and rippin' guitar with lots of creative loops along with bass, keys and other vocals).

Tonight, Geoff will open the night with a full solo set (guest musicians pending...), comprised exclusively of B-sides and rarely performed rock-out tunes from his previous band, Next Of Seven. Come out and dig!

Open stage/open jam begins after the feature act and continues till close, spiraling into madness as per usual.

To good music fans and bike-friendlies alike:

This Thursday, June 2nd at Bandshell Park in Exhibition Place, the Community Bicycle Network will be co-sponsoring a Bike Rodeo and BBQ, featuring the tasty original music of:

GUH (crazy mix of brass, bagpipes, 2 drum kits, bass & horns!)

&

WISER (roots-rock grooves - sax, flute, guitar, bass and drums... with a special guest vocalist!)

Also, there will be a magical clay puppet performance (Clay & Paper Theatre), between the musical acts.

Free admission!

BBQ starts @ 6:30pm

Show @ 7pm

There will be draws for prizes from Mountain Equipment Co-op, Downward Dog Yoga, etc.

Hey party people -

Due to the Victoria Day holiday, the Gypsy is closed today - biggity bam, no jam. Moreover, due to excessive given'r at the ComeToGive'r Music Festival, yours truly is not at all fit for public consumption.

But rest up for next week! We are planning to have WISER play a short set during the jam for everyone's groovin' pleasure...
