Seriously though, I've seen what this drug can do to people. I don't plan on trying it any time soon. I think I'll stick to my herb and beers. I am by no means telling people what to do, just offering my opinion. It definately is a dangerous drug that should be respected.

  3. Many thanks ahess! I've had troubles connecting to OZ recently, I assume it's because this show is in such high demand. I, and I'm sure others, really appreciate you seeding it as a torrent. I'll be leaving this running all night. I kind of have to (I'm also downloading the 08-15 Coventry show), but I might let the Slip torrent run for a day or two. Thanks again!

  4. the track of Shannon calling the guitarist and singing a song on his answering machine is absolutely haunting. It seems almost foreshadowing in its lyrics.

My thoughts exactly. All of their albums were solid pieces of music, and while I never had the pleasure of actually seeing them live, I'm sure the songs translated beautifully to a live setting. Another great singer/song writer stolen from us far too early.

  5. Even though it looks like it was an incredibly muddy weekend, I still would have loved to have been there. It's also nice to see that the original rumours of 20,000 - 25,000 people actually getting in seem to have been completely false. I hope all who went had a great time, those who braved the long walks and horrible conditions certainly earned it!

  6. I'd like to echo the sentiments of a few of you who said that it really doesn't matter what we want them to play. One of the key elements of bands that make a living out of being improvisational is that element of surprise - letting the music go somewhere naturally instead of having a rigid, structured course. Of course we all have favorite songs that we would love to hear, but to present our wishes to a band without, perhaps, having a close association to the band seems somewhat assumptive, in my opinion. I don't think that a band such as The Slip listens to what some random person suggests that they play. If they do, they are perhaps the most audience friendly band playing in the jam scene today. I wish you the best of luck getting our requests played Jaydawg, but I worry what the repercussions of asking them may be (ie. they end up playing none of the requested songs to get across the point that no one dictates to them what to play). All that being said, I would love to hear any or all of the following songs:

My Landlord, The Earth Will Dissever and Consume You After These Messages, 74, Fear of Falling, Soft Machine, Song of Mysterious Origin

  7. I'm listening to this now, and the sound quality is pretty good. I'm just finishing up the opening jam, and there are moments of sheer beauty during it. I, like many of you, listened to the simulcast, and the jamming during the soundcheck set the stage for many of the epic jams we heard during the course of the festival. I would highly recommend grabbing this torrent, you will not be disappointed.
