I figured if there was a Leafs (gag, choke) thread going then there had to be a thread for the greatest team in all of sports
Hopefully the Canadiens will dump that china doll Koivu while they can and free up some money for one or more of the many players becoming available in the next few weeks.
GO HABS GO!!!

I use Direct Connect daily as well. I am a mod in a lossless music hub there.(No mp3's sorry)
I prefer DC because it is made up of smaller communities of users, our hub has 70-150 (registered)peeps at any given time. There is a chat window and it is not as faceless as most peer-to-peer filesharing apps and we have some control over the people that only leech and don't share back.I have been there for 3 years now and made many friends that I have since met at shows or locally to swap discs.
Of course bittorrent is becoming the most popular way of downloading but again it is faceless and has no real community feel to it as do most DC hubs and of course forums like this one.

You got it Kam, only one place to be on Canada Day. We finally put an end to Spruce Street's reign of terror. If you need or any of the SPruce St crew need tickets let me know, we are almost sold out!
I have to figure out my plans...quickly obviously.Whitey just phoned me and asked if I could get a ticket held for him. He said to make sure the pimp-hat is there for him too(whatever that means).
I have plans on Canada Day from about 5 pm and after but I promised my 8 year old son I would take him out for the afternoon. He loves live music so I am thinking that may be a thing to do for an hour or two in the early afternoon. Problem is $40 is a little steep for me for a couple of hours (and I'm not drinking until I bring my son home).Would love to put some faces to nicks though. I'll mull it over

..I live within a 10 minute walk from there.
You must have moved' date=' eh? Either that or you can walk really fast! [/quote']
No, I'm in the same place. The street begins just over the bridge from my place. I have since learned the address and realized its at the other end. So make it a 25 minute walk

Just a guess kam, but does "Spruce Street" mean anything to you?
Hijack? Irony?
hehe..of course it does. I have been out of the loop for a couple of years and missed the last couple of Canada Days there but have been to a few Spruce St parties over the years. From what I understand there is no party there this year but I have heard about one on M*** St. I'm thinking that it might be "that place". If it is I live within a 10 minute walk from there.

ok...another pun
Mahatma Gandhi, as you know, walked barefoot most of the time, which produced an impressive set of calluses on his feet. He also ate very little, which made him rather frail and with his odd diet, he suffered from bad breath. This made him ...(Oh, man, this is so bad, it's good)... A super calloused fragile mystic hexed by halitosis.
you did ask for a groaner

thanks for the welcome
I don't know what I'll be capable of doing on Saturday after a heavy bout of drinking on Canada Day, but I do plan on going to see The Big Summer Classic at the Bluesfest. Also hope to see TMNS on Aug 06 for the anniversary of Jerry's passing.10 years, wow time flies.I remember seeing them just days after Jerry died when they did a show at the Laff. I have been away from the bar scene for the last few years because I have been busy with raising a family but I sure do miss it.I did manage to catch Nero a few times at Mavericks though

ummm...hi
just joined this forum and thought this was as good a place as any for my first post. I love the fact that there is alot of Ottawa folk here and I am curious how many of these nicks I may know from gigs around town. I am not a musician but have been enjoying the jambands around Ottawa for a good 20 years.
