  1. go see them.

they are back to a 7-8 piece with an incredible horn section and have been playing a lot more to their ska roots.

their new album 'Still stuck in your throat' just came out, and its awesome.

I saw them at the Vic Ska Fest in 2005 and they sounded awesome. Judging from the live bootlegs that have been coming out over the last few months, they are sounding even better now.

fishbone is definitely in the top 3 bands I've ever seen, and they very well could be the best live band ever.

  3. "In an age where the austere, mechanical piston thump of drum machines has come to dominate R&B, soul music doesn't sound all that soulful. That's why Calgary's Lynn Olagundoye is such a breath of fresh air!"

    -Jordan Lane, Beateroute Magazine (Calgary)

Absurd Machine Records is proud to present the release of Lynn Olagundoye's debut album.

The CD Release Party will take place Friday, March 31st at the Gateway in SAIT (Calgary). $5 at the door, doors open at 8pm.

Lynn is a 23 year-old singer/lyricist from Calgary with a voice that blends smooth r&b and soul with compelling lyrics and a fresh sound that incorporates funk, jazz, rock, afrobeat, roots-reggae, and oldschool pop influences.

Guerrilla Funk Monster, who Lynn performs with regularly in Calgary, performed all of the music on the album, and several members from the band are backing her up live.

The debut album is already getting rave reviews, and Lynn has quickly garnered a reputation around Calgary as a “must see†artist.

  4. GUERRILLA FUNK MONSTER MAKE THEIR LONG AWAITED RETURN TO THE STAGE

Absurd Machine Records is pleased to announce that Guerrilla Funk Monster will finally be returning to the stage after a year long layoff. The band will be playing at the Gateway @ SAIT in Calgary on Thursday, October 27th.

Guerrilla Funk Monster have not played out live since the end of their last Canadian tour in June 2004, during which they were promoting their second CD "Bomb" (released May 2004). They are super pumped to finally get the chance to lay down some fat grooves and rock some minds.

Guitarist Daniel Martinez had to travel to Guatemala for six months in fall 2004 to conduct the field research required to complete his Master's program at the University of Calgary, so the band decided to take a much needed break after playing over 200 shows all across Canada between 2002-2004.

Guerrilla Funk Monster are extremely excited to be playing live again after spending the summer working on recordings for upcoming releases by Absurd Machine artists Lynn Olagundoye and Human Marvels.

Also on the bill will be roots/rock singer-songwriter Greg Gardner and hard hitting blues/rock band Dr. Rage & The Uppercuts. Both acts are from Winnipeg and have brand new CDs out on Absurd Machine Records.

WHO: Guerrilla Funk Monster (with Greg Gardner and Dr. Rage & The Uppercuts)

WHERE: The Gateway @ SAIT (V204, 1301 - 16th Avenue NW), Calgary, AB

    WHEN: Thursday, October 27th, doors @ 8pm

    PRICE: $7 at the door

Greg Gardner will play a short acoustic set at 8:30pm

Dr. Rage & The Uppercuts will play from 9-9:45pm.

Guerrilla Funk Monster will be hitting the stage at 10pm sharp.

    See you there.

PS - In case you can't make the Calgary show, GFM will also be playing these other shows around Alberta:

Tues Oct.25 - The Sidetrack Cafe - Edmonton, AB (with Dr. Rage & The Uppercuts and Greg Gardner)

Fri Oct.28 - The Canmore Hotel - Canmore, AB (with Dr. Rage & The Uppercuts)
