  1. was wondering. if zedonk is out tomorrow, does that mean that they'll have copies at the small montreal show tomorrow evening? also, whats the deal with that montreal show. it starts at 9 but the main stuff isnt til midnight. does that mean nero will play 3 hours starting at 9? inside or outside? basically, ive been in montreal 4 years and never heard of this garden of ease place. so im trying to figure out if this is a legit gig gig where i can also buy zedonk.

  2. sorry brad, its possible i misquoted you, i tried to jot it down quickly without having my taperecorder on me. my apologies.

secondly, my apologies also on the "darius" review. obviously being my first show, i wouldnt have known better, but i know what its like to be a diehard and know that a debut isnt really a debut [Wink]

  3. brad-

got an 800 wordish article coming up in next tuesdays mcgill tribune. im doing a phone interview with the guys sometime tomorrow, but ill link to the article when its published next week. i was actually working on some of it during the show.

it was actually my first nero show and id been wanting to hear them for a while ever since ive been trying to get into the canjam circuit. my ex-roommate saw them when they were here over the summer, said they were really good and he's no music buff at all. that said, they blew me away and i was glad the trib not only told me to do the story, but is basically making it an A&E feature story (bout 1/2 pg). i wasnt actually setlisting (never heard the songs before), but thanks for posting it so i can use it in my article.

on a side note, id like to again plug for the band i rep for back in connecticut. they're called RANE (not to be confused with rana). if some hard work and luck can have it my way, i'd like to see these guys touring stateside with rane and have rane tour with nero up north here as well. the sound is extremely similar, only with some extra percussion and another guitarist, and lyrics.

to visit rane's website, go to thesoundofrane.com. for an official live bootleg, visit www.projectflood.com

til next time, keep the groove alive.

  4. im looking to maybe start a jamband up in montreal. im a third year mcgill student- play keys/rhythm guitar. influences are jam based (mmw, phish, rane) to britpop (coldplay, travis). looking for all instruments however percussion is something thats preferred also. give a shout if you're interested.

  5. i saw them in montreal for the first time in april. definitely a smoking band and a shame they broke up. i was trying to get them to hook up with the band i rep for here in CT for a couple shows.

the live mp3s that are up on their mp3.com site- does anyone know the date of that show (kingston, ont). would much appreciate it

  6. hey everybody

havent been in the country in a while, but i just saw that moses mayes broke up over 3 weeks ago. they're the second big band to break up (bnb) in the last 3 months. anyone know why that is? i was trying to get them going with the band i rep here in the states, but obviously cant do that now...

  7. i think that living in montreal, id rather be canadian than american. so when people ask where im from, ive started referring to myself as from montreal rather than from hartford, ct. i mean who the hell wants to come from there anyways? canada, home of best beer, best weed, best hockey. go habs go!

  8. i know this doesnt really matter in retrospect- i just read the post and the night is now over, but i saw moses mayes at le swimming. they were pretty good. parkside jones was having an EP release party but definitely i enjoyed moses mayes, so if you get a chance to check them out anywhere else, i suggest to do so.

  9. Hey everyone,

I'm new to the canjam scene (second year U.S. student at McGill). Had a few questions about what's going on in canjams. First off, other than Bullfrog, what other canjams are there in Montreal, and where can I find their websites?

Also, I'm looking to jam with some people sometime. I play rhythm guitar and am looking to jam with others/possibly form some sort of band next year. Where might I be able to find anything here in Montreal?

Lastly but not least, I rep for a jamband from Connecticut, they're called rane. website: www.ranetides.com. If you're into jam, check them out. Two live shows are available for download at www.projectflood.com or email me for shows/buying a CD. We're looking to book a gig here at Le Swimming in Montreal at the end of Montreal.

Thanks for the help and I look forward to talking to people.

    Spencer
