  1. I know it's a long shot' date=' but what do you figure the chances are of getting tickets at the door? I'll be in Ottawa for the long weekend touristing it up, just heard about this show....

    Cheers,

There are some tix left right now. If you're GOING to be here, buy now, enjoy later.

How would one go about buying in advance if one were not in the Greater Ottawa Area? I checked ticket web and they are sold out...

  2. Hey all, long time no post.... this is too crazy, me and some kids are just getting ready to head to Williamsville, NY to catch the simulcast at the IMAX theatre, weve got tickets and hotels all set up, now I wonder if it will still go off in light of the craziness? kind of glad I had to sell my ticket and bail on making the trip now, too bad for those who get turned away. This could get real ugly.

  3. Yes!

Burt Neilson Band Jan 24th at the Horseshoe Tavern, with special guests:

GuestHouse- featuring Steve Murphy (Friends of Hefner), Johhny Kerr (Friends of Hefner) Jeff Hilhorst (Jomomma) and 2 other guys who are probably really good...as well. They will be playing a set to get the night started (approx 9:45-10:45) followed by 2 sets of Burt.

  4. I agree, a pretty useless ploy, as the stones always play Toronto when they tour, and everyone knew they were touring for their 40th. The funny thing is that thousands of people actually went to the Q107 site and participated in the petition (or at least thats what Q107 is saying). Lets hope for a surprise gig at the Horseshoe...

  5. Howdy All, glad to see so many of you had fun 4:20 parties- I had a hectic (yet still ragin') one down in NYC...Anyway, if any of you are around a TV tonight (and can handle watching Mike Bullard), check out the performance by the band Bodega, featuring Gavin Maguire of Burt Neilson Band on drums.

    Good Times.....

    Darryn

  6. Bodega never was supposed to open in Kingston, and not opening in Ottawa anymore...sorry. Opening in Kitchener this Thursday and in Guelph on the 28th, very much worth checking out (in my opinion), you will like if you are into Neil Young, Floydish/Beatleish psychedelic pop. Their new album is absolutely amazing- produced by Dave Fridmann, the same guy who did Mercury Rev and Sparkle Horse. They're also playing at the Rivoli in Toronto on the 29th.

  7. Is the tax given to the record industry (meaning the labels) or to the performers rights societies, such as SOCAN and ASCAP? these are the governing bodies that distribute performance royalties directly to the artists, from such things as radio play, live public performance, use on T.V....etc. Im not saying I necessarily agree with the idea of a blank media levy, (or disagree for that matter) but it is interesting, and could potentially be a solution- or at least an alleviation of some of the problems caused by the Napster/Kazaa/Morpheus etc. method of music file sharing- at least in as far as privately owned intellectual property goes (as opposed to live show downloads)....

  8. Hey Harpua, I'm doing real well...yourself?

I figure the Alfies policy will be the same as usual. Quite frankly, I didnt even ask this time, as I usually end up doing whatever I want anyway. They have all sorts of political agendas, I just want people to be able to see the show hassle-free. I'll have a list of guaranteed ticket purchasers, so I can throw you on that list plus however many extra, and you should have no problem at the door- let me know. That goes for anyone else too. I believe advance tickets go on sale soon though, so if thats easier...

    Cheers,

    -D

  9. Yep, thats the same Andrew Rodriguez- he is the front man and songwriter for Bodega. I did go to the Andrew Rodriguez/Neil Halstead show, it was unreal. Two solo artists doing what they do best in front of an appreciative sold out crowd at the Rivoli. Neil Halstead is great- kind of sounds like a James Taylor/Nick Drake cross, very cool to hear as compared to Mojave 3 (which is also cool).
