SteveThe Owl Posted October 13, 2005 Report Share Posted October 13, 2005 The Dusty Owl Reading Series Presents Jennifer Whiteford 5pm, October 16th at Swizzles Bar & Grill, 246b Queen Street, OttawaNo Cover Ottawa writer, musician, blogger and teacher Jennifer Whiteford will be reading from her upcoming book Grrrl, a coming of age story about a teenage girl in the Toronto suburbs and her journey through a land of misfits. Her ongoing six-year-old zine, Matilda, has won rave reviews for its depiction of women in punk from the perspective of a fan and musician. Her collection of short stories, The Mattie Stories, has been called "The Vinyl Cafe for indie rockers." And as usual, there will be a friendly open mike (bring your poetry, music, stories, rants) after the feature, and the ever-surprising Object of Desire contest.
