While still developing their sound & their fanbase, Big Bottom never fail to make an impression and will be heard from around Vancouver for many years to come. **cover - $5.00 **show starts at 10:30 PM -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Friday August 29 KAEJEMA www.kaejema.com Kaejema is an eclectic four-piece band based out of Vancouver and the Sunshine Coast, BC. Initially the project began 8 years ago somewhere between Banff, Alberta and Montreal, Quebec, before core members Kit Soden (rhythm guitar, vox) and Tim Townsend (lead guitar, vox) decided on the west coast to evolve and create the sound still known as kaejema. After a few lineup changes, which served as learning experiences, the partnership has now grown to include the talent and wisdom of Pat Haavisto (Harvesters, Spirit Merchants) on drums, and Jason Taylor (Smokin' Frogs, Jasonius Maximus) on bass. Jason is from Vancouver and Pat is from Kamloops, BC. Kit is from Montreal and Tim from the Laurentians, QC. Each member contributes a variety of styles to the compositions, creating a sound that is familiar yet unique at the same moment. With each of its members having a schooled background steeped in jazz, funk, & soul... Funkshun have the tools to deliver the shiver. With a lineup that includes guitar, bass, drums, keyboards, trumpet, & saxophone... Funkshun never fail to pack the dance floors of whatever party or FUNKtion that calls upon them for their expertise. Only one year after its inception, DOPPLER (D)EFECT have attracted much attention in Vancouver's electronic, jazz, & jam band communities. This is a live drum & bass band. That does not mean the band only play hard beats at breakneck speed... though it certainly goes that way at times!! However, the focus of the band is to groove as hard as possible, providing danceable music for its audience. THE ACHIN' BLUES BALLS BAND & BELUGA That's right folks, we're going back to the early 90's... a time of great health in Vancouver's live music scene when bands like the Achin' Blues Balls Band, Beluga, Crazy Fingers, She Stole My Beer, The Grames Bros., People Playing Music, & Roots Roundup (to name a few) were regularly packing the houses at the old Commodore Ballroom & the much missed Town Pump every weekend. The guys thought that it was time again for a little get together to jam things out, have a raging party, and let loose with all our old friends. This show is sure to be a good time and a stroll down memory lane.
