Great news. The original Ottawa Rapids / Rapides are back after the owners of Zip.ca almost ruined Ottawa's possibility of having baseball in Ottawa.

CAN-AM LEAGUE TO OPERATE THE OTTAWA RAPIDS FOR 2009 SEASON

OTTAWA - The Canadian American Association of Professional Baseball League (the Can-Am League) Commissioner, Miles Wolff will be holding a press conference in Ottawa at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 19 at Rapids Stadium.

It is expected that Mr. Wolff will announce that the Can-Am League will operate the Ottawa Rapids for the 2009 baseball season while they continue to seek new ownership for the team.

The League and the City are looking at extending the lease for Rapids Stadium which is set to expire at the end of 2009. Ottawa City Councillor, Bob Monette will also be present at the press conference.

LES RAPIDES D’OTTAWA SOUS LA GOUVERNE DE LA LIGUE CAN-AM EN 2009

OTTAWA - Le commissaire de la Canadian American Association of Professional Baseball League (la Ligue Can-Am), Miles Wolff, va tenir une conférence de presse à Ottawa, le mercredi 19 novembre à 15 h, au Stade des Rapides.

M. Wolff devrait annoncer que la Ligue exploitera la concession des Rapides d’Ottawa en 2009, tout en poursuivant ses recherches pour trouver des investisseurs potentiels.

La ligue et les autorités de la Ville d’Ottawa ont indiqué qu’elles aimeraient en arriver à une entente afin de prolonger le bail pour le Stade des Rapides, qui vient à échéance à la fin 2009. Le conseiller municipal de la Ville d’Ottawa Bob Monette sera également présent.
