...is shockingly GOOD!

Not that I was accusing a senile Mr. Young of shotgunning a studio album after an impromptu jam session with fellow drunken geriatrics, however this album did show up seemingly out of nowhere. The online release of an uber-budget video to promote the album did little to dispell that notion.

'Fork in the Road' is the hardest album since Living With War, but has a bit of a bluesier feel to it and less "Fuck the gubernment" emphasis. In fact the emphasis is mainly on Neil's passion for cars. Having a shot every time Neil sings the words "car", "road", or "gas" would certainly lead towards a painful death from alcohol poisoning so that particular drinking game is not recommended.

What is recommended is grabbing this album and having a fun 38 minute listen.

well I must say that's the first positive review of this album I've read anywhere. My impressions of a few these songs both on the internet and live at the ACC last year did not bode well. Glad you enjoyed it.

I'll check it out at some point but I'm not inspired to run out and grab it, like I/we usually do with Neil. He is awesome but man the title tune is a bloody awful, at least.

You know, the title tune is the worst song on the album.

And don't get me wrong, it's not a crisply produced album by any means. It might still have been recorded during a drunken jam session with his friends. But the sound is raw and very Neil.

The new songs live blew chunks, but on the album they don't offend.
