Isn't Root Down era Jimmy Smith considered Acid Jazz? If it is then godammit I like acid jazz.

So I'm gonna take this time to do a little hypeage, 'cause, quite honestly, I'm pretty certain there isn't anyone on this board who wouldn't enjoy the show.
Flattstreet is a young jazzfunk, jam, groove, R&B group from Hamilton consisting of sax, trumpet, guitar, bass, drums and amazing vocals by Sarah Ruba (don't believe me? Hear her voice here... http://www.flattstreet.ca/flatt/music/SarahRuba/SarahRuba-07Please_Send_Me_Someone_to_Love%20.mp3 ). Forming their own combo while in the Hamilton All-Star Jazz band, most of Flattstreet's members have had the opportunity to perform throughout Europe at premiere festivals like Montreux, Viennes and Zeltmusikfest in the summer of 2003. Flattstreet is now making a name for themselves ont he local scene as energetic and skillful young players. Did I mention these cats are only 19-21 years old?
Do yourself a favour and check them out Saturday night at the Casbah. They've been rehearsing every day this week and have some tight shit together. This is an excellent opportunity to catch and support one of Hamilton's youngest, hottest bands.
More mp3s can be found at http://www.flattstreet.ca/flatt/index.php?page=mooncook
and general flattstreet information can be found at http://www.flattstreet.ca

You can kindof do port forwarding with DHCP, but you'll have to set the router to use 'static' DHCP. Basically it'll assign the same IP address to a specific computer based upon its MAC address.
-
I don't think that binding your IP to a private IP address is going to fix anything, 192.168.*.* are IPs reserved for any home network, and don't work as actual internet IPs.
From what I can tell, your computer seems to be blocking the ports that would allow you to upload anything (though your web browsing port #80 must be open if you can browse online). This is probably due to a firewall on your system, or lying somewhere between you and 'the internet'.
If you're pretty certain that you don't have a firewall like Norton Internet security installed, then check out your network settings (Settings -> control panel -> network connections), right click on the network card bound to your cable/DSL modem and select properties. Choose the advanced tab in the top right of the window that appears and if "Internet Connection Firewall" is checked, uncheck it and see if your email attachments work.

So are you really serious about this post thing? 'Cause I just hit my 25th...
I, am a banana.

I'll have to agree, it is pretty great.

One final bump because I know people here would love the show if they actually came to it.
-
I told you it was sea-foam green. Now come on out and listen to some of the best music that Hamilton has ever heard from such young virtuosi. I guarantee you'll be impressed.

FLATT STREET
Spring Reunion Formal! 3 Sets o' Madness
8PM - 19+
Time to get ridiculously dressed up, go to the Casbah and reunite with all the people you did and didn't know for the past year in a drunk and disorderly fashion. Full night of dancing and schmoozing with music provided by Flattstreet.

I say format, but only after you've made the proper backups. It'll make your computer feel like new again. Also you'll get rid of so much clutter that you don't really need and you'll have a better idea of what programs should be on your computer.
Make backups by burning CDs and make sure you have the proper installation CDs before wiping all your programs out with a format. You could also back things up by putting them on a different partition.

I think the "Fans of so-and-so might like this new band" is a good approach. It gives a bit of direction to anyone who might be interested...

Can someone give me the low-down on the Fat Cats? I'm in the opening band Ernie Thompson, and to be honest I just want to know what these cats are all about.

I'd have to say that I've never been one for advertising, in general it makes me want to drink a different beer just so I can go against the grain. The commercials can be entertaining though.
In any case, I've been pretty staunch in avoiding the Beer Store and stocking up with microbrews from the LCBO or from the brewery itself. My latest favourite has been to get a keggy (12.5L) of McLean's Pale ale from F&M brewery in Guelph. It's about $45 for a 1½ cases of beer so it's not a bad deal, and tastes pretty freakin' good (from CO2 induced mini-keg).
Thems my 2 cents,

Kiss to Build a Dream on by Louis Armstrong. It's a very suitable nice, pretty jazzy little number.
"Give me a kiss to build a dream on, and my imagination will thrive upon that kiss..."

Computer Science/Music student at Guelph University. This summer I'm freelance programming web sites and fixing people's computers, as well as gigging with my band.

FlattStreet ( http://flattstreet.eck.ca )
Starting out as jazz quintet, FlattStreet is quickly emerging as a rockin', funkadelic improvisational ensemble of Hamilton's modern music scene. Generally, FlattStreet is a 5-piece group with 2 horns (trumpet + sax), bass, guitar and drums. The ever amazing Sarah provides her own brand of vocalism to create a final layer on top of their energy rich shows.
Best Quote Ever (talking about Flattstreet):
"Seriously, though, someone had described you guys as "jazz rock" and I shuddered - in my experience too many jazz players have had the feel trained right out of them, and rock needs feel; that or their jazz chops aren't so hot. You guys had neither problem and you're really inventive with your songs & arrangements. Hope to catch you again." - James Hayashi-Tennant, Program Director 93.3 CFMU

No, but I'm Andy Richardson's friend's brother Andy's in a band called the Deviance with my brother Andrew, they're playing with the Unicorns at the underground on May 7th. If it means anything to you, I'm an 'Eckart' boy.

I just thought I'd say hello to all you forumites and introduce myself so that people might actually read what I post.
Basically my name is Martin and I'm a 20 year-old Uni of Guelph student. Live in Hamilton and play sax in the jazzy funk-rock group Flattstreet. I'm a big fan of heavy instrumentalism, excitingly long, drawn out solos and energetic/enthusiastic performances.
I was at the Béla Fleck(!) show as well as Sebadoh on Thursday... So you might have seen me! Unlucky you. Anyway, if anyone's interested, my band is opening for Jomomma tomorrow night. I think it's a good idea to come.
Please reply to this post and tell me what's wrong with my pony.

Bump, just in case anyone has a penchant for some sweet young jazz players.
