  1. thank you for the well wishes i am sure we will run into you Trevor

i hope everything is as it should be for you right now Julia

i would like some energy to go and see chris duarte tonight...this guy can shred

  2. yeah the lawnchair fascists were getting quite annoying at bonnie raitt last night however the most vocal of them seemed to be wearing day passes so they may not choose to have fun for the remainder of the week

i did inform them that yelling sit down at the the top of thier lungs is at least as annoying as the standing people

as for me i don't care if you stand sit or walk on your hands just don't ruin it for the rest of us.

we will be there with our baby again for some soul and r&b on a beautiful sunday...if you recognize us or if you don't please say hi as we haven't been out too much since Carla had the baby

  3. it's been 15 years since i have biked through the park on some great singletrack. i finally counted on my legs to take me to kingsmere and back (i can see the benefits of getting dropped off up there to bike back to ottawa).

seriously great ride however i have some questions for you who go up there quite a bit.

do they ever change the signs from no biking to biking to properly go with the map?

i had no choice but to take trails that said no bikes due to the other sign posted they were waterlogged. are these signs related or are there just no damn bikes in the park anymore?

the trails were dry as a bone...in fact the wet trails were the portage trails renegade bike enthusiasts created to join the main closed trails.

that main x-canada trail is an old fire road anyway.

i did disobey ncc regulations but i would argue the environmental impact of riding on a dry fireroad is negligable.

will they stop you in their trucks and yell at you?

    will they take your bike?

  4. ottawa--love/hate/love

my hometown...i have always enjoyed the recreational aspects to this city.

i used to enjoy the skate commute to work...not many other places that is possible.

the ottawa river...my soon to be kayak training ground

skiing...i really missed this place when i was in st. catharines for ten years.

    barrymores

    mechanicsville

    gatineau park

    ckcu

    bluesfest

    ricardo's pizza

    so good asian food

    working in the summer sunshine

  5. Yimou Zhang-Hero

    nation state conflict>ideological conflict>culture conflict.

i think it portrays huntington's essay as well as it's critique as intercultural conflict is too big an issue to not be included...the film suggests the world is following the same path huntington lays out...the clash of four nations, different banners, different skills and cherished folkways. Revealed in the big picture however is the fact they are all Chinese.

i guess the star wars films would confirm and

deny huntington at various times in the series as well.

  6. i've been in the fortunate position as part of a team which succeeded in building a low power fm station when i was in school. Beats much of that stuff builds as you go...evolves as you go i find. A grassroots approach does work...eg. a good acoustic sounding room doesn't neccesarily need to be soundproofed.

the cost outlays for us while hemorrhaging from overhead were comparitvely low for gear.

VLPFM transmitters will drop in price in next few years. AM Low Power are already super cheap as we have moved from quality of broadcast to quality of media. the mp3 of a podcast at present is only a little better than an AM signal. In bizzarro world campus community may own the fm dial in a few years.

optimistic i think but the big conglomerates may leave for bigger money in digital radio.
