  1. We are thinking about going to see the Indigo Girls tonight for free as part of Pride weekend.

    Saturday, June 23 at 9:30pm

at TD Canada Trust Wellesley Stage.

I have a feeling it's going to be a zoo and we won't get anywhere near the stage but it should be fun none the less.

  2. We listened to it at 9:00 PM on LOC.

There was no introduction or anything, it just went from whatever song they were playing right into the RA set.

Was it actually live last night or was it a replay from an earlier appearance in the Sirius Studios?

I am not that familiar with the new album and have only heard part of it but the vocals on a couple of songs were very rough. I guess he was doing that on purpose but I found his voice hard on the ears at times even though the music was great.

I know he played the first track off Easy Tiget "Goodnight Rose" which i really like.

  3. We ended up at this show on saturday. Crowd was a decent size but you could easily get around and find a good spot to watch the show. I'd guess it was about 2/3 to 3/4 capacity, maybe more.

We had wanted to get into the horseshoe to see their NXNE lineup (United Steelworkers of Montreal, Ohbijou, Sebastian Grainger, You Say Party We Say Die, Inflight Safety) but there was a big lineup by 9:30 and we decided not to wait around.

Wandered around a bit before heading down to Healey's and Last days of April were playing. You could hear them outside and also see the band through the patio door. They sounded OK but we still hadn't decided if we were going to go in. It was so nice outside that we considered hanging out on the street and just listening to the show.

While waiting outside we saw Ron Sexsmith go into the show. I'm a huge Ron fan so I had to mention this. We saw Dave Foley there as well.

We finally decided to go in during the last song of the opener and didn't have to wait too long before TSOOL came on. I do not know this band at all. I remember hearing good things about them a couple of years ago when they opened for the Robert Plant tour but had not checked them out.

I liked the show but it wasn't until about the fourth song before I really got into it. The guitar player just started ripping it up and that completely energized me. They put on a very entertaining show. I kept thinking the singer looked like he was from Lord of the Rings or something with his Monk like robe and scarves.

We stayed for the entire show and were treated to two 2 song encores. No idea what they played but it was a fun show.

Afterwards we listened to the In-flight Safety set live from the Horseshoe on CBC 3 on Sirius on our ride home. I had forgotten they were broadcasting the entire horseshoe show that night.

Next year I am definitely getting a pass for NXNE.

TSOOL has a myspace page and it seems like some of the members have side projects.

  4. you can get ga pits in the presale right now.

i was away when tickets went on sale the last time the stripes played Toronto and the pit sold out right away.

I would recommend gettting some now as they should go very fast on friday.

you will have to sign up. it's very easy.

also musictoday has a new shipping option for canada $9 instead of $15.

i don't even think they sold the lawn seats for the 2005 show so i doubt it will sell out.

  5. thanks for the recommendations quiqsy

i had a $25 gift certificate for amazon that i had to use before the end of the month.

i picked up Good News for People Who Love Bad News (one with bonus dvd) and Moon And Antarctica (one with bonus live tracks). Amazon sure has a lot of different copies of the same cd.

getting building nothing.. off the pink site now as well

also picked up a dave bidini book i don't have. 5 hole stories. i don't know anything about this but love his other stuff.

  6. Here is the setlist from modmouse.com

    Setlist:

    --------------

    Paper Thin Walls

    Ocean Breathes Salty

    Dashboard

    Fire It Up

    Bukowski

    Missed The Boat

    Float On

    Education

    Trailer Trash (Extended)

    Tiny Cities Made Of Ashes

    Doin' The Cockroach

    The View

    --------------

    Encore:

    Bury Me With It

    Breakthrough (Extended)

I thought it was alright. I didn't dislike it but it was a bit underwhelming. It was over by 10:00 and we were back in Guelph shortly after 11.

We were dead centre but further back in Row P. I thought the sound was great from there. I could hear everyone. It was loud but not blistering by any means.

Johnny Marr was really getting into it near the end, as was everyone in the band. I was hoping for a second encore and was pretty shocked when the lights went up so quick.

I only have the new album and they didn't play a lot of my favourite songs off of it. Florida or Fly trapped in a Jar for example. I was definitely expecting to hear these two.

Not sure if I would go see them again although if I'd heard the older material before the concert it might have made the show a lot better.

  7. We got row B balcony slightly left as well through friends first. I called right at 10.

The best floors they had were way over to the left. I'm not sure what row they were in, but I don't think it was very close.

After reading this thread I tried the Wilco presale and no pairs were available by 10:15.

  8. It is not sold out.

Reserved seats in front of the stage are sold out.

Side stage reserved and GA floors are still available from JLC site. I wonder if they even sold upper level seats?

I think the floor was sold out at one time but more tichets must have been released.

I almost bought some last night but then I saw the setlist and that put me back on the fence.

They are only playing sabbath songs from the dio years (basically Heaven and Hell and Mob Rules songs). I was really into them at the time but am not sure I want to pay $140 for two tix with sc. In the 80's they used to play ozzy songs with dio, not sure why they don't now. I looked at some old setlists and would prefer that.

GA floor would be sweet though.

Stage set is supposed to look like a big castle, surprise surprise :)

  9. This is the setlist as best I can figure out from Weirdness's tape. I compared it to the higher ground show to get the names.

    1. play pause stop

    2. sunny song

    3. echo park

    4. soba

    5. walking, running, viking

    6. memphis

    7. best reason to buy the sun

    8. becky

  10. We were standing by the door and just as the band left the stage at the end of the encore, we saw some poor folks just getting inside. They were not too happy.

You really can't blame them for not knowing about the early start time. How many times do you go to a club show that says 8:00 or 9:00 on the tickets and the band doesn't even come on until 11:00 or 12:00.

I hope they got their money back as it was a pricey show ($76 with fees for 2 tix).

  11. The show was amazing. It was off the hook from the first song. They played lots of covers and originals during the two sets.

Some of the covers were Wayne Shorter, Chick Corea, Flaming Lips and Bjork. I know I'm missing some others.

One of the highlights for me was the Lips cover of Pompeii am Gotterdammerung off the new album, which is very floydish sounding. It was unbelievable.

It was great watching Reid and the rest of the boys up close like that. When reid broke a string in the first set, I was thinking they were going to end the set there but no he quickly restrung the bass and kept going.

I'm sure glad we made the show. I think I enjoyed it even more than the CTMF show last summer which is my only other JFJO experience and it also blew my mind.
