  1. No one else...? Well, I'll say a bit more. Doors opened at 8 or so. Anton was in the DJ booth until about 10:30 playing dubstep which was hilarious. He seems really into the electronic beats now. Some of the newer album Who Killed St Pepper almost reminds me of Jimmy Swift-but I don't think I would even identify it as BJM (or Anton) because the sound is so different. But I love the new album-it's very groovy. They had an opening band (who I couldn't hear their name) but they were kind of psych. rock/pop. As long as they played the sitar I was okay, otherwise it was a bit too pop for me. BJM came on at 10:30 and played a solid 2 hours. No fighting on stage. Joel and Matt Hollywood took the centre, Anton on the left. I think they seemed a little shocked at the toronto audience's enthusiasm. Apparently they played for an audience of 60 in Detroit. They smoked up a storm on stage (by-laws... f-em!). They played a lot of their hits (all on the red album-best hits) which were awesome, and then sparsely tossed in some newer songs. Anton claimed he was officially kicked out of Canada-they let him in for 2 days to play and that's all. He's going to the courts and telling them how much he loves Tim Hortons.

Oh yes, there was one official crowd surfer which I thought was hilarious, and a mini mosh pit?!

  2. Concert bleeding rocked! I still have a second hand weed smoke hangover. How can you not enjoy a band with that many guitars. There were a lot of douches at the concert though-I had a girl spill her beer twice down the front of my dress-someone actually pulled my ponytail from behind-and some girl kept running through the crowd shoving people out of her way.

  3. As much as I want to hate on the politician-I'm not completely convinced it was his fault. I remember a few years back, about 3 days after I had started driving I had an incident with a drunk guy on a bike. He was driving towards me in my lane. I had to come to a complete stop, and then he drove around me. But being so hammered me rammed his bike into the side of my car repeatedly, leaving marks. Then he fell off his bike! I was like, 'are you kidding me? is he a scam artist?' I got out of my car to discover how drunk he was (at 3 P.M!). Anyway-like anything-cyclists can be twats just like motorists. I hate being on the road period-car or bike. I find lately too, that pedestrians are out and out jerks. I don't know how many times I've had to hit the breaks because a pedestrian decided to cross when I had the green lights. bah.

  4. Roll call-who's hitting this up? It's at the Phoenix Concert Hall-I've never been to this place, what's the layout like? I was surprised to see that Matt Hollywood is touring with the band again. He's been gone for a while. Looks like they have 9 people on the road. I'm pretty hyped!

  5. weekend passes sold out in less than 5 minutes? I was on at 10-site wouldn't load, then at 10:05 passes were gone. Argh. I'd get day passes-but they're more money than the weekend.

boo-ya! got tix. You just have to keep trying and eventually it will say tix available to you.

  6. I saw Indy and enjoyed it. I can't compare it too movies I watched 20 years ago because as a child I was influenced in different ways.

In this current episode there were a lot of things that were WAY out there but I found it to still be entertaining.

Exactly! All of the movies are far fetched and hilarious-and being that we are much older now, obviously we'll have different reactions.

It made me laugh-I enjoyed it.

  7. I don't know the whole setlist-but there was...

    All Along the Watchtower

    Wishing Well

    Here Come's The Sun

    Woodstock

    Freedom

    Maggie's Farm

there was some others on his more recent cd's that were very good.

He was still pimped out with lots of rings, and managed to get in a big karate kick at the end of the show. Definately worth seeing!

  8. Wow!! The concert was amazing! Richie is still kicking butt-voice made of gold and intense strumming. His musicians were great as well. I got two signed cd's and am still mesmerized. ahhh...

Also, I saw that country joe will be playing this years festival of friends in hamilton! Good free show.

  9. I got tickets months ago to see him this tuesday in TO-I'm really excited! I've wanted to see him for years!

Country Joe McDonald is playing in august at the same venue, I was thinking about going to see him as well.

  10. I find that very suspect! On the news within the past few days they did a story on abandoned buildings in Hamilton. Mostly talking about that one on Hess that has had numerous fires, and is very easy to squat inside now despite boarded up windows. They even talked about the lister block, saying how that was one of the buildings they kept an eye on. They had some people debating about how the city of Hamilton was neglecting its own duties by not taking care of these old empty buildings and that the downtown core looked like hell because city counsellors have been ignoring it... blah blah blah...

Anyway-very interesting that the next day the lister block is being demolished, after telling the public they 'keep an eye' on it.

  11. I'm probably going to rock the boat-but the man that was tasered was totally out of control. He was throwing chairs and a computer in a public space. He was tasered twice-and then died. Thinking from a cop's point of view-if someone is being that violent, how are you to subdue them without getting harm to yourself? One toss of an object-and there goes your teeth, vision etc... Now I know that's a lot less than death, but the people's intentions were not to kill the man. The autopsy will show if the man was on an type of drugs; this seems to be a big factor in taser deaths. Anyway-I'm not too sure if I see it completely as police violation or not. Pepper spray has killed people before as well (I've been pepper sprayed-it ain't fun).

  12. I really enjoyed the show-I wasn't too keen on the amount of boozing that was going on. Some pre-show drinking is cool, doobage-whatever-but once the show starts I can't rationalize myself getting out of my seat every 20 minutes to buy a beer. The show should be about the music-not about how much you can pound back in an hour in a half.

Not to mention all the vomit I had to jump over of the way out of the amphitheatre. Gross.

  13. Hey Sarah-I remember playing a game at warren park where we were split into 3 groups, herbivores, omni, and carnivores. We painted our faces in different team colours, and then played something similar to capture the flag. I think we had our own territories and such. Anyway-tons of fun!

You could also collect different things from nature and make prints with them if you have paint.

Are you supplied with string or gimp too? Bracelet making is always good on really hot days!

  14. No one mentioned 'Her Majesty.' ??

You have this great album that seems like a continuous opera-then Paul McCartney squeezes in that piece of junk.

It should have ended with 'And in the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make.'

  15. I guess what I'm looking for is to just be on the same plane-or at least similar path as he is. It is good to have people pick your brains on this one. The older I get the more I disseminate what love means-because it is not a one sided or singley defined word.

Sometimes I just want to be obnoxious and say, "Do you like me? What do you like about me? Do you want to be with me?" Maybe I can yell, "Give me somethin' to work with here!" in a new york Bronx type accent!

    Thanks folks!
