What type of vinyl do you have that will be sold? Is it all Sonic Unyon bands? What kind of prices (ie., what will be the price range)? I just want to get an idea before I make the drive. Thanks!

Try eBay... there were probably a bunch of jackasses who preordered a bunch to mark up and sell there. If there's nothing now, keep checking. I'm sure a copy will turn up.

I can put them in a folder on the server space I have if you want. Just send a private message if interested and don't already have something worked out.

Thanks for the info! I'll be there in an hour or so... keep a look out for a guy in a GD bucket hat with a burley beard (and a pathfinder like the avatar to the left).

Haven't made the decision to go yet... I guess I better get my act together. Any Brantford/Paris people need a ride? I may be able to help. Send a private topic.
So if I make it, where will I find all the fine people from here? Or is that basically everyone that attends? If I get there, I'll be going solo so I want to be able to find some good people to chill with. I might do some taping too. Where's the best place to camp? How big does this fest get? Never been down there before so I don't know what to expect.

So, NO, technically the voters do NOT have the control,. the electoral college does.
I hate the electoral college system (at least based on my understanding of how it works). As far as Hillary Clinton goes, she indicated in 04 that she would likely run in 08. I'm not saying that she'll win the candidacy but I think she has an awefully good chance. I don't really have any opinion on how I feel she'd perform as a president because I just don't know enough about her. What I do know, leads me to believe that she'd do a pretty decent job. John Kerry wasn't the best candidate last time... too bad Howard Dean didn't make it, maybe things would have turned out different.

Heheheh...
But he has no military forces he can command, and not a lot that he can do to help these people. If he could set an example and show the gov what should be done, I'm sure he would. I understand what you're getting at though.

Thanks guys!

I don't trust the voting machines... made by one the Republicans biggest campaign contributors!!! If the Dems win, it'll be Hillary C kickin some ass. Sadly, I'm very pessimistic when it comes to American "democracy" and don't honestly feel that the voters have the control. If the dems win, I think it'll need to be a landslide victory. If it's close, the GOP will make it so they win. I was privy to the county by county exit poll results in both Florida and Ohio on the night of the last election. Miracuously by the next day, the counties that had electronic voting machines had vastly different results than the exit poles had indicated there would be. In one county, the exit poll had stated that there was 79% support for the democrats. Oddly enough, by the time Bush was declared winner, those "actual" numbers included 79% support for the Repulicans, not the Democrats. There were a number of counties where the exit poll results seemed to be inverted by the time the actual results were posted. The changes only affected counties with democrat support.

I saw Jill Barber last fall in Guelph... well worth checking out. Where is the Casbah Lounge (address)? Never been before and don't know Hamilton all that well yet... only know Upper James/Upper Wentworth area.

Still doesn't make him a self promoter. He's accomplished more as an activist than just about anyone else I can think of. He's been effective because he's sarastic, funny, and can get a point across in a way that the masses can understand and relate to. He's been able to present his ideas and messages in ways that make the bad things he talks about more palatable. That's why he has succeeded where others have failed. He's far from a shameless self-promoter.

Loved this guy... great song writer. Very sad death but one that matched his music. I was able to see him at the Opera House in 1999... he looked and performed like someone very sad or depressed. I heard that he had been hassled at the border by Canada Customs and he rarely spoke between songs. He was a man on a mission to play through his set and get it over with as quickly as possible (if I remember correct, 45 min total). I don't know if this was typical of his shows. I enjoyed the music but was disappointed with his performance. He just didn't look like he wanted to do do the show, or anything. That's how sad he looked when I saw him. I find the lyrics in the song, "Fond Farewell" (off his posthumously released album, "From a Basement on a Hill") to be very eerie. I interpret them as a goodbye to friends and family. Very sad indeed. R.I.P.

I'm not 100% sure if I'm gonna go or not... If I do it'll likely be tomorrow (err.. tonight). Anyone else going from Brantford/Paris that wants a ride, let me know (send a private topic). It might give me the push I need to make it down. If I don't make it, I hope all yall have a good time.

Just picked up a copy of Thelonious Monk's Underground LP at a yard sale (surprising find) on Saturday... I've had it in regular rotation since.

For the Phish Phans...

Thanks Dr. J! Too bad there aren't any recordings from their shows. When was that Peterborough show? I didn't realize Hendrix played with Pickett. I always thought his only pre-solo stuff was done with Curtis Knight (or is that just recording?) Did the Ducklings come out with any 45's with the original line-up?
Any other good canuck bands from mid 60's to mid 70's that you'd recommend checking out (bands I'm unlikely to know)? What do you think of Perth County Conspiracy? I like the Alive album but haven't heard much of their other stuff (I know I've moved onto a different genre).
BTW... not Canadian but I just picked up some early 70's Leo Kottke... wah!!

He might avoid the full native head dress... but then again...

Good to know. I'll pass it on. His copy sounded fantastic but I didn't view the vinyl to see what wear it had. The jacket is definitely NM+.
I don't know who told me they were from Woodstock. Thanks for the background info. How many albums did they release? 45's? I love vinyl.

I thought it was about the originals too! Funny to find this post today because I was just listening to "Somewhere Outside" on vinyl today. A buddy of mine has it and was kind enough to give me a listen. His copy is NM and sounds great... fantastic band. Now I've just got to convince him to trade it to me. He wanted to try to find out what it's worth before selling... anyone know?
BTW... I've been told a number of times that the Ducklings were from Woodstock... is that true or was it indeed T.O.?

Bah... gotta love Warren. He's the hardest working man in show business so something's bound to stop him now and again. I'll miss having him there, no question but the show will kick ass nonetheless. Just think... the next time the Allman's come, you'll likely see them with Warren but when else will you see them with Jack Pearson and Roy Holloway? Another 9 years?
I know that doesn't mean jack to people who haven't see the Allman's current line-up but for this cat, it'll be a fun change to see something a little different. I've been fortunate to see the Bros. a few times in the last few years. I think Derek holds back a little when Warren is there so he'll be wailin' without him. Fuck he's good.

I taped him in Stratford 11/03/03. Great show. Played 18 songs!! Unfortunately I have no editing skills and it's sitting on my computer, raw and without being divided into tracks. It won't fit on a cd until after an edit. I have a lot of other shows like this too (most are still just on mini disc).

Sign me up! Gigity Gigity Gigity.
Can't wait for this one!
