  1. Your bottom bracket is most likely worn out (if you hold both of the crankarms and you can rock them back and forth laterally, then it's new BB time)...Based on the year your bike was built and the price point that the Rincon sits at, my guess is it's either an ISIS type of bottom bracket or a square tapered spindle variety...Either of those are readily available at any shop...The replacement part is about fifty bucks and labour will be another thirty or so...I'm currently using a Raceface branded BB which has lasted for quite a while without issue...Another reputable brand of Isis BBs is Truvativ (which is owned by the same company that makes Rock Shox)...For square tapered BBs, accept nothing less than genuine Shimano...The difference in price between lowballing at some Joe-Shmoe's back alley shop and a reputable bike store with proper tools and knowledgeable staff will only end up being about twenty bucks or so in the end but it'll be worth it in the long run...

  2. I was just checking out the Primus Canada website and it seems like a good deal...

Is anyone out there using their wireless service as well?...They seem to have a lot of hidden charges in there and it's hard to get a handle on what the actual final cost is going to be versus Bell Mobility (or Rogers or anyone else for that matter)...

  3. HOWDY...

Anybody have a spare torrentleech invite?...

I'm an excellent bit torrent community member with ratios above 1.5 on every private site I belong to (oink, demonoid, myspleen etc.)so you can be assured I won't get you into any trouble for inviting me...

    Thanks in advance...

    CHRIS.

  4. Almost all of the new features of the 5G mk2 are available in the original 5G but I think you have to do a firmware update (which is always scary if you use a lot of 3rd party accessories since you never know whether or not they'll still work afterwards)...

Also of note: the Dennison Ice Link is only $50 at futureshop because they're clearing them out...They are regularly somewhere around $250...The only ones left are for Panasonic stereos so get 'em while you still can Panasonic users!

  5. I don't think the ipod sucks at all...

There are a lot of reasons to choose the ipod over it's competitors...

One major reason is the availability of aftermarket accessories like car adapters, speakers, cases, batteries, software etc...No other mp3 on the market has even a tenth of the available accessories...And now that the ipod has been around for awhile, a lot of those accessories can be found really inexpensively...You can buy a silicone case for the ipod for two bucks in some places...Reliable car chargers can be found for ten bucks...Things like Matias' iPod Armour (easily the most durable mp3 player case on the market) just don't exist for any other mp3 player...

  6. only the VERY latest iPods support gapless

All 5G ipods, not just the updated one that came out this past fall support gapless playback...My girlfriend's ipod is a 60gb original 5G and it supports gapless...But you have to have the latest version of iTunes on your computer.

  7. Learn HTML...It's easy...you'll be glad you did...Even with a WYSIWYG editor, you're still going to have to get your hands dirty from time to time and actually mess with the code...Then you can use notepad or any other text editor and do it yourself...You're going to find the process of creating web pages extremely frustrating without this basic knowledge...

  8. You can get cheap ($10-$12) first quality name brand (Monster & Speck) iPod car chargers at KW Surplus and XS Cargo here in Kitchener to charge your iPod regardless of how you interface with your car's stereo...

If you do a google search for iTrip modification you'll find all kinds of tutorials on how to boost the signal quality...However, my brother tried it with his iTrip and he broke it...My iTrip makes a "pop" noise between tracks which is somewhat irritating and the sound quality is less than stellar...

www.ilounge.com is the place to go to find out about all your ipod/car interface options and their relative benefits...Their testing is beyond anal.

  9. Unless there's a HUGE demand for posters, there probably won't be any more of the DD posters printed...The scarcest poster is the red Pepper Jack's poster...Talk to Ricky Neu about those...The Lanc stuff and the square Pepper Jack's are more common...You can get those from Mark Tonin or Ricky...To make things more exciting, there are two different versions of the Lanc poster...

The next big Kitchener show is on the 28th at the Lanc and it's a Party in honour of our friend Marcel who passed away way too early in December...We've already printed out the handouts (see below)...It's my understanding that there will be a couple of different posters available to commemorate this show from a couple of different artists...The lineup is The Fat Cats, Harvard Mouse and Organic Groove...
