  1. Hey all - I hope some of you were able to attend the show, as it was over-the-top sick. Susan Tedeschi and Duane Trucks made appearances (as they did in Victoria the night before, which was great too). I've put up some photos I took (not great, not awful) here. For those interested, the setlist was: Up Above My Head Crow Jane Sahib Teri Bandi > Maki Madni > Sahib Teri Bandi I Wish I Knew Kam-Ma-Lay Soul of a Man 44 Blues Meet Me At The Bottom Done Got Over My Favorite Things Soul Serenade Hercules Sugar > Do Yourself A Favor Stand Back E: Key To the Highway
  2. I know this may not be the ideal forum to post this in, but I've noticed a number of folks mentioning that they have had issues w/ the new West Coast calendar. I got bored while watching Law and Order and so I whipped this up - How to add an event to the Jambands.ca Music Listings It includes step-by-step instructions w/ screenshots etc. Hope it helps someone. Cheers, Ross
  3. "Budgies" is absolutely not "the best Burrito place ever" - for the best burrito ever you have to go to Mexico or California. But it IS the best burrito place in Vancouver, and I strongly recommend it. Drop by the BCMP Bookstore/HQ (307 West Hastings Street) and buy a NO EXTRADITION tee-shirt or three. Then drop by the New Amsterdam Cafe next door for something to eat (or smoke). Our Town Cafe is my fav local coffee shop, and it's right down the street from Budgies. Free wi-fi (which admittedly is very common in Vancouver).
  4. Antibalas would actually be on my list of bands to see as well, but Derek Trucks is playing Victoria the same night.. and I can't pass up the chance to see him two nights in a row.
  5. Too many artists to list, so here's the full list. Some personal highlights - Sonny Rollins - June 22, 2007 @ The Orpheum Theatre The Derek Trucks Band - June 24, 2007 @ The Commodore M. Ward - June 28, 2007 @ The Orpheum Theatre Norah Jones and the Handsome Band - June 28, 2007 @ The Orpheum Theatre The Blind Boys of Alabama - June 30, 2007 @ Centre in Vancouver for Performing Arts Who else should I see?
  6. Just an FYI for those interested, tickets have gone on sale for both shows. Ticketbastard for Vancouver, http://www.rmts.bc.ca/ for Victoria. See you at both!
  7. It's official now - http://www.mule.net/tour/mule.php. Advanced tickets go on sale through MuleTicketing (http://www.muleticketing.musictoday.com/GovtMule/calendar.aspx) tomorrow.
  8. Though it was only my second time seeing Ratdog, it was every bit as much fun as the first. Audio: http://bt.etree.org/details.php?id=504389 http://bt.etree.org/details.php?id=504378 Pictures: http://clarson.smugmug.com/gallery/2493163#130941455 See you @ Mofro (unless something else pops up first) Ross
  9. not go? Actually I'm sure it'd be pretty fun, but I think I'll pass.
  10. RHD and Wolfmother share very heavy and obvious Zeppelin and Sabbath influences. Both are 3 pieces. Both rock.
  11. Well for those who give a rats ass, it was awesome. They played Showdown, Cool Cody, Look On Yonder Wall, Raise Your Hands and Faeries Wear Boots, among others. At the peak there were less than 40 people on the floor, maybe 200 ppl in total. Dismal. I'll never understand why Wolfmother sells out the PNE Forum and Rose Hill Drive draws so few. Oh well. Oh, and this was my first show at Richards On Richards - which I totally give a thumbs up as far as venue's are concerned. The sound was excellent (and loud as hell). Not a bad view in the entire place.
  12. Rob - I sent the email to you. For others, this link might work - http://www.hob.com/special_offers/24tu/listing.asp?v_region=brco You'll need to create a House of Blues account if you don't have one already. What's the story on Rose Hill Drive.. They're a band I'm quite fond of though have yet to see live (which is why I'm pretty psyched for Saturday) - here's their home page: RoseHillDrive.com Here's some of their music that I've posted on my site (yep, shameless self promotion) Rose Hill Drive | MP3s Rose Hill Drive (again) | MP3s
  13. Anyone else going? Those who are still considering - I have an email from the House of Blues that's offering 2 for 1 tickets to this event. Let me know if you're interested and I'll forward the email to you. With that said, it certainly sounds like this event is far from sold out.. Ross
  14. Update: From the actual tour page - 6/23 - Victoria, Cananda, Royal Theatre 6/24 - Vancouver, Canada, The Commodore Ballroom 7/28 - Winnipeg, Canada COOL Jazz Festival Someone else can inform the east coast bastards that he's also playing Toronto and Montreal, but frankly they get enough good shows already. So screw them. ps. I'm kidding. ---- This is according to Pollstar, who also have Derek and the boys playing in Vancouver on 5/24/07 - which is probably (?) wrong, as Derek's actual website has him playing in Pittsburgh, PA that night. Oh, the Commodore Ballroom. See you there.
