  1. Wilson is calling on the league to review the Kosto hit from behind on Van Ryn...

I am biased to the Habs, Van Ryn saw that Kosto was coming, and was trying to stop to change directions, and exposed himself along with his numbers... it ended up being a nasty hit for that reason, but there was no intent to do so... 5 and a game seem to warrant the result, but further suspension, not a chance...

Now when you purposely go in with a butt end, and intend to hit a guy in the balls with it, that's intent, and should be reviewed... Had he got Pricer in the face, it would be suspension time... they have to start suspending intent, not just injury resulting..

Keeps your head up Grabs, a lot of Habs are just waiting for an opportunity to eat ya now...it's a long season

  2. "According to La Presse, Balsillie told the newspaper that the 100-year-old club was for sale"

And than he went on to personaaly write an apology to G.Gillette...

When was the last time you heard of someone, let alone a multi-millionaire, writing an apology for something he didn't say? Seems a bit much if it was purely hearsay.. he would have simply challenged the paper itself if it wasn't true.

  3. Come on MrBigTime. Get it together. Brian Rolston for Marc Denis?????

Is that what you asre trying to say? That's completely ludicrous.

I never said that you saggy ole Wookie... I was just saying staing what we may have up for offer, and what they may have to offer...

Halak + Begin for Rolston though... maybe... but he's 35, and just signed a 4 year extension, and plays RW... we need a good 27-31 y/o offensive defenseman...which NJ doesn't have to offer..

My point being, NJ needs a goaler, we have 2 decent ones which we would entertain offers for, and not many others teams do...

Watch out Booche, I got a lamp with your name on it...

  4. There was never a "cut out 2 good HD sport channels" scenario for Rogers subscribers in southern Ontario since RDSHD was never available.

It's still not available on Rogers anywhere, and never ever was there... what I meant was, cut out 2 channels from my viewing pleasure, which are readily available with other service providers (Videoton, Bell, and even Cogeco got both RDSHD + TSN2) but Rogers continues to not offer them, as it competes directly with Rogers Sportsnet, that is the main reason I can see...

  5. Denis was a first round pick, who hasn't worked out for the most part in the NHL... he played on a sub par Columbus, and TB teams, and maintained a SV pct of around .900... not bad... He's no Carey Price, but I should damn well hope he would be worth more than a 4th rounder, especially if he maintains these stats...

Brian Rolston has put up terrible stats for NJ.. but I don't think we would want him... Parise on the other hand (they wouldn't trade him though)

A cool find in the AHL stats though, Drew MacIntyre finished 3rd in Goalie stats in 06-07 in the AHL... he used to back me up the odd time when I played Midget AAA...sure he was 4 years younger, but at least I can bask in "I used to be..." lol

I played against Brad Richards that season too... he was awesome~

  6. This TSN2/Rogers debacle just adds to the embarrassment and frustrations.

    Noobs.

    RDSHD. That is all.

Yup exactly... waited for ever for RDSHD, and we are still waiting, finally jumped ship to Bell after seeing the same fiasco happening with TSN2.. Not that I prefer being with Bell, had a great deal with Rogers, but as soon as you cut out 2 really good HD sport channels, see ya...

  7. According to Habs inside out Denis did have to clear waivers to get to Hamilton, but I won't argue that point.

Seems odd, he didn't make the big team, but had to clear waivers... oh, it has something to do with his age I think, he's 31, and after a certain age, you must clear going up and down...goddam CBA has so many clauses, it's damn hard to know all of the movement rules

    I sit corrected & learned~

  8. I'd wake you with a steel-toed boot to your head!

    :susel:

As long as you wait about a couple hours after the game to do so, better that than to sit in the parking lot for an hour defore getting on the highway for another hour... Horrid, horrid set up all around at that place, from the product on ice up... makes me sleepy just thinking about it

  9. There was no support and the tickets were free. I even snuck in booze. No way I'm giving a dime to that franchise ;)

You're officially in my good books badams, couldn't have said it better myself... I could easily say no to free tickets to Sens hockey at Scotiabank Place unless there was a REALLY entertaining visiting team to see... and I'd bring a pillow, the fans would never wake ya :P

  10. Is Marc Denis turning into trade bait?

    262881_resize.jpg

Well if you base your decision on his stats so far this season (GAA 1.84, S% .945), and moreso on his last three starts which earned him Player of the Week in the AHL (GAA 0.97, S% .970), I think that the Habs might have a decent bargaining chip on their hands if this trend continues. Denis says that after working with Habs goalie coach Melanson, he's regained his confidence in nets. There are already a couple of teams in the NHL that might be desperate for a proven goalie due to injuries to their starter (Islanders, Devils) or due to a lack of confidence in their rotation (Senators).

The one thing that I am unclear on is if the Habs want to trade Denis, would they have to recall him from the AHL first, and would he be subject to re-entry waivers if he's on a two-way contract?

There is of course the one detail that Booche will certainly remind me of: "He's playing in the f'n AHL. Relax douchebag."

He was never put on waivers, so it would not be re-entry... and, you can trade a guy directly from the AHL to another team... we've done it lots of times in the past...

I was at first thinking Halak was our trde bait, but he is our insurance policy, and you need insurance... Denis is excellent trade bait, and that's why we picked him up me thinks. I think BG would entertain offers on either guy, but the "Price" would be steeper for Halak, than for Denis... based purely on age and future NHL potential...

  11. The Ottawa Senators currently sit in 29th place in the NHL' date=' with a 1 point lead on the NYI, who have one game in hand on the Sens.

Just like the good ole inaugural days eh Sens fans~ Bring back Peter Sidorkiewicz maybe?

    [/quote']

    quoted for karma

Don't hurt your neck looking up at 28 teams AD. Losing you and Martin Gerber to injury in the same week could spell trouble for the mighty Sens.

  12. It's not like all you rich Stadium Sens fans are the problem, or can justify the situation completely. As a whole, Sens fans will always be known as a fragile bunch who will jump off the bus quicker than they jumped on it in the first place. Some will stay on, but ticket sales are showing it may become a lonely ride soon.

PS - The bus will have loads of seating room come Christmas if management continues to think Gerber is a true #1 goalie in the NHL.

  13. If he is sure they will take them back, as it was written, than it was part of the deal with the Sens. He probably had to pony up the 17 large at first, just so someone is accountable.

Blaming the economy is a horrid excuse, might as well say it's due to lysteria or the price of gas (which is now down to $0.95ish in Ottawa). The economic downturn hasn't hit Canada near as bad as US.

  14. I looked this morning to see what the ticket situation was like for the Sens / Coyotes tonight, the only place I could get a pair of tickets was standing room.

    Sens vs Coyotes

    300 LOWER 300L 320 J 18-19 2

First try...actually every game I tried had a pair of ticket available.

Also, I looked at Montreal's ticket sales site this afternoon and not all their games are sold out either.

No Montreal games have 2 side-by-side tickets available... yes you can buy a single ticket to very few games.

I feel quite confident with your record in this conversation, that you're... ahhh I give up, this conversation sucks...

WHO F*CKIN CARES! (at least you were wrong too, which makes me feel a bit better...lol)

  15. I doubt that. They sell out almost every game.

Does that really count if you have to give them away at 50% off?

    That's a half-full rink IMO.

Didn't realize Melnik just bought in 2003, so I guess he's doing what he can, with what he's got (and loving the MLS initiative). The NCC most definately had a roll in the rink location.

Caught the first bus from downtown for a Saturday night game Sens vs Leafs 2-3 years ago, got to the game with 7 minutes left to go in the first. Missed 2 goals, + 2 fights... and my hate was born with watching live NHL hockey in Ottawa.

  16. They are selling them at 50% off' date=' because no one is buying tickets [/quote']

no, that's not the case. the very first day tickets were on sale those tickets were 50% off. it wasn't a case of "oh the tickets aren't selling, let's mark them down"

same for the florida game next week.

Ok then, wouldn't that be even worse? (I know I'm winding you up AD, but that's why I'm here..)

Do you REALLY think this is a way to show gratitude to fans, so to give them a break...

    OR

They are 110% sure they won't sell the tickets, so they'd better mark them down to get people there?

Seriously, support for this team, or lack there of, is the worst in Canada for an NHL franchise. Partially due to fair-weather attitude of fans that if they're not winning, I hate them all (aka:Redden bashers) and also, trying to get to the game is near impossible for 7:30pm throughout the week due to traffic, and even worse on weekends... Eugene made his bed, and may wake up to some shiny Vegas lights in the future. Remember when they barely made pay-roll a couple years ago?

  17. you'd be concerned if your favourite sports team made it easier for you to attend a game?

But that's not the case here I think Booche is saying.. They are selling them at 50% off, because no one is buying tickets which = no revenue which = bye bye NHL Franchise if trend continues. That being said, the Sens do make a ton more $$$ from parking and pre-game food monopoly being in the middle of nowhere. Having the stadium out there only makes me dis-like the team even more. They should be the Kanata Senators geographically and realistically.
