  1. "I can't believe how many people have seen his crap and believe it as gospel...Anyone needs more than one viewpoint to understand an issue."

    Are you suggesting that people who have seen Moore's new film have only seen his side of the story?!?!? That these people have never heard Bush's side of the story (which is in every newspaper and every tv station)?

    Come on, get your head out of your ass, that's a stupid and insulting fu©king statement.

    Easy there, don't have a stroke. I was pointing out that many people see the film and think it is 100% true and base their opinions solely on F911, without bothering to research any other side of the story.

    I am sure lots of people understand and know the Bush side of things, but many don't. I just find it interesting that most people who agree with Moore only site his articles and movies as their research and 'proof'. They are only looking at one side of the story to bolster their argument, no matter how widespread ay other argument may be in any number of media outlets.

    I don't know what you're all bent out of shape about, or why you feel the need to make personal attacks. I guess you don't see the need to see both sides of any argument! ::

  2. people are blindly following whatever crap they see on fox and read in usa today (or the national post, for canadians) i really wish people would just try to analyze the beliefs that they hold, instead of just being part of the popular culture.

    People are also blindly following what Michael Moores spins for them in his movies and books. He spins an even more skewed version of the truth than the network channels. I can't believe how many people have seen his crap and believe it as gospel, not even taking the time to research for themselves the truth behind all of the issues.

    Anyone needs more than one viewpoint to understand an issue. How can you base what you believe on the ramblings of a supreme leftist or rightist and not have a bit of curiosity as to what the other side of the argument is?

    Moore's movies are the ultimate example of people blindly believing what they see in pop culture.

  3. 'They seem to be able to do a lot with two chords,'' said Mr. Jay, who was clearly unimpressed with the group's musicianship.

    That is pretty funny. I wonder why Mr Jay is so bitter. Where are his successful record contracts, tours, legions of fans, etc. He is obviously a top notch musician who can criticize others who have had success. Just like any critic, they are no talented enough to compete so all they do is point out flaws, even when there aren't too many of them.

    Pretty weak.

  4. "but I lose all respect for him when I see how he tries to push his view on others and not present all of the information allowing people to decide for themselves what they think."

    Too bad Fox News (and CNN to a lesser degree) do this on a daily basis

    I agree. I never watch Fox news for just that reason. CNN is a bit better but they have their own agenda too. They push things too far the other side.

    Moore presents facts to make his argument look good. The 'right' does the same thing. The problem I have is when people decide that one single viewpoint is the be-all end-all on a specific topic. if people base their opinions on politics and gun control on the Michael Moore movies they have seen and they think they are making an informed decision they are way off base. The great thing about civilized nations is that we have the right and ability to have and speak our own opinions about anything. I think an egomaniac like Moore is taking advantage of people who are not able or willing to research and understand issues for themselves.

    I understand a lot of the people on here love Michael Moore. I have seen his movies and I think he has some good points. I know he is not presenting the facts on all of the topics he preaches about - just the ones which fit with his argument or viewpoint.

    Do you people really think that Moore could just walk up to three houses in Toronto and randomly walk into them? Give me a break. I would be interested to know how much of his "real" Bowling for Columbine was actually staged. Weird that he wins an award for best documentary?

    The most recent film is a better documentary than the first although it is still way left slanted and doesn't totally take into account all of the information it should.

    The article quotes here is way too right as well and makes itself useless as a critique when the write is obviously so anti-left. I think there is a middle ground between right and left for most issues and decisions, but I seriously hope people aren't basing their views on movies they see. I also hope not too many people based their votes today on what other people had to say. There is tons of information available free of charge people. Don't let someone else make up your mind.

    Also tube - I don't really care who on here or the millions elsewhere think or whether they agree with me. I don't decide what I do based on what the crowd thinks is cool!

    What the hell, when are the next Phish shows - so we can get back to talking music??? :P

  5. That sounds all correct to me. He is out to shock a group of people who already think like him. He is doing the same thing he does in Bowling for Columbine. He presents only part of the information and he does so in a way to incite people to think a certain way.

    This propaganda is just as brutal as the propaganda spewed in other countries which some people go on and on about and complain is so terrible.

    I certainly hope people don't base their entire political beliefs on Michael Moore's films. The information is skewed so far to the left it isn't funny. I think he has some good ideas, but I lose all respect for him when I see how he tries to push his view on others and not present all of the information allowing people to decide for themselves what they think.

    Kind of makes him as bad as the people he rants about doesn't it?

  6. Damn - that is another fine setlist. A Bag--> Roses are Free?

    The second set looks amazing. A ton of songs mixed together and then YEM-->2001-->YEM!! Very nice.

    If this even sounds nearly as good as it looks I feel sorry for you not likeing it Esau!

    This second to last tour is going VERY well so far. I haven't seen a disappointing show yet setlist wise, and SPAC was amazing.

  7. Man - a Loving Cup opener???

    A Cities -> Back On the Train - this would have been full of funk!

    Down With Disease -> Rock and Roll - DAMN! I hope this sounds as good as it looks.

    Set 2: Wedge, Timber, early Antelope, Tube opener, and a kick ass encore of Coil.

    These shows are all looking great. I can't wait to grab the LivePhish releases and hear them.

  8. Nice second set:

    Halley's Comet ->

    Crosseyed and Painless ->

    Slave to the Traffic Light

    Nothing ->

    46 Days ->

    Scents and Subtle Sounds ->

    jam* ->

    Brian and Robert

    I would certainly rather see an amazing set like that than a cover band. I like DSO and Keller, but give me a break. DSO and Keller over a good Phish show?

  9. Anyone complaining about a Velvet Sea encore was not at Big Cypress. I was never the biggest fan of the song, although I usually like Page on vocals, but after seeing it wrap Big Cypress with the most perfect song placement ever, it has been a song I love.

    I am sure anyone else who was there would agree. The encore this time at SPAC was outstanding. Nice placement again, and well played. A great way to end a monster set.

    Get the LivePhish releases or download an AUD and listen to the second set. I can't believe you would have anything bad to say about it?

  10. The SPAC shows were great. They were # 59 and 60 for me, and two of the better shows I have seen in recent years. The Second sets from both nights were outstanding. The Piper was sick, and the second set of 2nd night was nearly as good (-7, Twist, especially!)

    The scene at SPAC sucked. The traffic was a nightmare both in and out, and there were way too many sketchy folks. I love this band more than any other, but the scene is almost too much sometimes. The organized shows remove all the crap and just allow you to get to your seat and enjoy the shows without all the 'cool' kids ruining it for everyone. Speaking of 'cool' the kids beside me second night on the lawn were snorting coke and completely out of it by the time second set happened, completely missing the best part of the show. Nothing like having a good time. Brutal.

  11. So I took the week off from work to study for my GMAT, an exam that has consumed my life in recent weeks. This wild roller coaster is over on Friday (kinda), but a man can't just study all day, he needs stuff to do, and people to see.

    Good luck. I wrote my GMAT last Fall and and I am starting school in a few weeks in August. The text doesn't really test anything other than how well you can write the GMAT. It doesn't do much to indicate how well you'll do in busines school. Where are you applying to?

    Anyway, if you have any questions let me know. I just wrote it a few months ago, and the test is the same everywhere.

    Guess Which is Which (or What)?

    I like the SCI tunes listed above, and when I first saw the setlist I thought it looked like a decent show. I think Wilco blows, and I wouldn't cross the street to see them, so I guess I would say that the Cheese was the good set and Wilco the bad? If I'm right do I win something?

  13. [quote

    Which albums are with Jeff Beck, and has Beck ever toured with Waters?

    Aloha,

    Brad

    Jeff Beck played on Roger Waters solo album Amused to Death. Waters never toured for that album, only debuting his Amused songs on the In the Flesh tour of 99 (and Doyle Bramhall was the guitarist!).

    Roger sat in with Beck once for a few tunes from Amused to Death. Here is some detail on one of them: http://www.rogerwatersonline.com/tours_jeff_beck_concerts.html

  14. Good thread Esau. Pink Floyd was my major obsession for about 10 years before I started into the jamband world. I still find myself playing some of the many live shows or studio albums I have from Floyd though. I spent years collecting rare pressings, imports, singles, vinyl, cassette, CD, video, etc of Floyd.

    I always seem to change my mind but currently my favourite album is Meddle. For one, Echoes is on it, and that kicks ass. I also enjoy the other seventies stuff - Animals, WYWH, Atom Heart Mother, DSoTM. I also love the Wall, although it is far from my favourite.

    Some of the early seventies live shows are amazing with crazy older jam songs, and wild improv!

    Roger Waters is a genious in my opinion. His solo albums are great concepts and very well done. Not an everyday listen, but outstanding lyrics, concepts and usually a great guitarist (Jeff Beck, Clapton, etc). The Final Cut is pretty much a Waters solo album and is one of my favourites. If you haven't heard any solo stuff I urge you to check it out. I saw Wtaers solo a couple of times a few years ago and the shows were really great.

    Post Waters Floyd is also well appreciated by me and I loved seeing the Division Bell shows in 94, but the 70's period where Waters and Gimlour were well in sync was the best Floyd period.

  15. I have had good luck with blankmedia.ca. They are in Canada and you don't need to pay crazy shipping or duty fees. The proces are pretty good too. I know a few others on this site have used them successfully.

    I have only ordered Taiy Yuden unbranded silvers and some double jewel cases from them, but all three orders were flawless.

  16. Hi folks - I need 1 extra lawn ticket for the first night of Phish at SPAC - 6/19.

    If you have an extra I will pay face, and send the money asap.

    Any idea how tough it will be to get extras in the lot? I know a huge place like Saratoga should be easy to get a ticket to, but with the END in sight, who knows?
