Ernest Dawkins & the New Horizon Ensemble

Saxophonist Ernest Dawkins is a member (and former president) of the AACM and leader of the aptly named New Horizons Ensemble. Says Playboy/Chicago Reader critic Neil Tesser, "Dawkins's breezy compositions... employ a boppish vocabulary, but also more recent ideas on harmony and form."

Dawkins also has his own record label, called Dawk.

it's a really interesting switch from the typical humber and york grads in toronto.

this guy's Chicago all the way. No academic bullshit here. it's straight up and truly unique.

I have his album 'jo-burg jump' - it's a favourite.

a truly worthy alternative to quip or BNB in the hammer - these guys are world class players that are pushing Jazz.
