Other great bands have the same set-up too: The Soledad Brothers, The Black Keys, The Immortal Lee County Killers. I think part of Jack White's guitar/drums inspiration came from Muddy Waters. Some of his old Chess recordings have only guitar and percussion, or a pounding bass drum, specifically the "Rollin' Stone " rewrite: " Still A Fool ".
