SteveThe Owl
Phil Jenkins January 15th, 5pmSwizzles Bar & Grill, 246b Queen Street, OttawaNo cover This Sunday, Jan. 15, Dusty's happy to present Phil Jenkins, local author and historian, and in his own words, "a maker and seller of fine English." Known in Ottawa for his time as house feature writer for Ottawa Magazine and as book columnist for the Ottawa Citizen, Phil is the author of three books: a national bestseller on family farms, Fields of Vision; the award-winning An Acre of Time, later a play; and River Song, a journey into the history of the Saint Lawrence River. He was the books columnist for the Ottawa Citizen for six years, and teaches workshops in writing non-fiction. An Acre of Time was called "a gem" by Quill & Quire Magazine, and Fields of Vision spent 13 weeks on the Globe and Mail Bestseller List. His writing has garnered awards including the Ottawa Citizen Non-Fiction Award and the Canadian Authors Assocation Lela Common Award for History. As usual, there's no cover and the reading will be followed by an open mike and the ever-popular Object of Desire competiton.
