Some info on the openers:

“When you’re standing near –Tokyo Police Club! When you’re standing next to me Tokyo Police Club! Lost in the pacific – I’m arresting you for being in love.†Cheer it on.

LETS GO! Put down whatever is that you are holding, grab a coat- you’re going on an adventure. The band have arranged for you to get a ride home later.

Who knew guitars were meant to make those sounds? Picking apart the average chord and creating something quite amazing – disjointed, high yet perfectly pitched erratic, verging on sci-fi guitar, cushioned with bumbling pillow fight-esque bass line, crashing open hi-hat and magical mystery tour of keyboard acrobatics – this is the sound of Tokyo Police Club.

The band have known each other since elementary school, playing Pogs and trading Star Wars cards. At the start of high school David Monks (Vocals, Bass), Josh Hook (Guitar), Graham Wright (Keyboards and Greg Alsop (Drums) started learning to play from scratch together – their first ban fizzled along with unrealistic notions of fame and fortune.

Tokyo Police Club was born when the boys realized how much they missed playing the music. “ Cheer It On†had already been written, and ‘Tokyo Police Club’ featured as a lyric, according to Monks “it’s justified in its own ridiculousness.â€

At their first show the boys had more cup cakes than audience members, they handed them out and then devoured the rest in celebration – that’s the real deal here folks. Sweeter than sugar - there is no bitter, not even when their audience was sparse. When it’s raining outside and the breaks down. Tokyo Police Club will be clapping, singing, rejoicing whilst successfully rocking your socks off too.

Pop rocks candy- this is the musical equivalent. Makes you tingle, makes you feel funny but there is an unknown ingredient that makes it more fun than almost anything else in the whole world.

You’ll see this band and fear that you could crack into a thousand pieces if the smile on your face could stretch itself any bigger. It’s not comedy; it’s just sheer happiness. Monk describes the band as “Wide-eyed post-punk with a tendency to get over excited – so much so, that someone has to come and tell it to settle down.â€

Sometimes you just can’t help yourself, sometimes something takes you by surprise- this is not preparation this is celebration.

The band has the usual list of idols- and musicians that play with their hearts on their sleeves but secretly they divulge, “We think Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones are the real deal.â€
