King Sunshine illuminates disco roots and drop inflections of funk and dance rhythms, reinventing house music and driving the whole fusion over the red line. Imagine… nine musicians transformed into one “live†DJ. Comprised of keyboards/synths, heart pounding drums/percussion, deep bass, slick guitar, intense electronics, tight horns and soulful vocals. King Sunshine has been lighting dance floors on fire since 1998 as a highly skilled and electric live act. KS has redefined the concert going

experience.

With the release of their second album “Second Movement†in fall ’06, King Sunshine is poised to branch out to new segments of music lovers worldwide. Experiences at Canada’s largest music festivals including the Montreal Jazz Festival in 2005 and 2006, Ottawa Blues Festival, Toronto Jazz Festival, Toronto Harbourfront Festivals and the Evolve Festival in Antigonish Nova Scotia has brought KS nationwide recognition. Years of sold out club shows and underground parties have led to shared stages with music's finest DJs, including DJ Sneak, Mark Farina, Derrick Carter, Ron Trent, Theo Parrish and Little Louis Vega.

King Sunshine’s raw explosive energy takes dance music off of vinyl and brings it to the live stage. Emulating a DJ approach by building up their climaxes and breakdowns, and mixing their songs together into one continuous seamless set of music. People have described their concerts as “deep and moving†and "a powerful, unforgettable, rhythmic experience".

“The weather’s beautiful on the dancefloor!â€

Dr. dFunkt is the creation of Kamran Abdi. Abdi was born in Pakistan, raised in Saudi Arabia, studied in the States, and now lives in Halifax, Canada. Kamran uses funk music as a vehicle to incorporate his diverse international influences into a solid and coherent pop sound.

In late 2004, Kamran independently produced and released a full-length album (Nuerotik) to a very receptive audience.

Through smart touring, Dr. dFunkt has amassed a strong following throughout Atlantic Canada. They leave a buzz in every city they visit. From hippie to pop festivals, Dr. dFunkt can't help but keep winning fans from all walks of life.

The band has a high-energy dance-driven sound that is very concise on arrangement and feel. Their superb musicianship, tough rhythms, and high-octane riffs make every live show a party.

Dr. dFunkt released a new album in September 2006 (Running Hot). This was Abdi's first time engineering and producing a live band. The challenge turned out to be a blessing. The record is hot with a very "live off the floor" sound.

A mix of Prince, Jamiroquai, Guns N' Roses, Jimi Hendrix, and Led Zeppelin; Dr. dFunkt brings a very fresh and energetic sound to the Canadian soundscape.

MADAMEBROWN.jpg

The New Waterford, NS based Madame Brown formed with a clear goal, to make music that had hips; music which leaves you with no choice but to dance. The Madame Brown sound is a hybrid of modern rock, house, and trance beats accented with funky, psychadelic guitars and keyboards which meld together to form a wall of sound to move the body. With varied influences ranging from Pink Floyd to Daft Punk, Herbie Hancock to The Flaming Lips, and St Germain to The Clash the New Waterford boys have developed a sound which can only be described as Madame Brown!................. " like a Flaming Lips set meets the most sugar rushed psycho 8 year olds birthday party all rolled into one. there was about 40 people dancing at one point wearing rabbit ears and googly eyed glasses and spinning glow sticks around."......................... "These guys bring the party, figuratively and literally....as the numbers on the door basically tripled as they showed up. Fun, danceable groovy, electro-funk. These guys get better everytime they play....everyone must check them out when they get the chance"
