Tony Scherr/Chris Brown/Kate Fenner last night

Went down to the Dakota last night to see Tony Scherr, CHris Brown, Kate Fenner and friends. We got there late and only caught Tony Scherr and his band but I'm telling you he is SMOKIN!!! Tony Scherr plays bass usually. He's the bassist with Bill Frisell on East/West, with Scofield on Bump, etc. Also he's in Sex Mob. He's got a Thurs night residencey at the Dakota right now (and one in NYC on MOndays, busy man!). Its great to see a band SO on top of their game. Pretty Pavement and Dinosaur Jr. inspired at moments I thought. But then also country tunes. Sarah Harmer was hanging out all night, and I saw Dave Bidini drop by for a bit. THey're all on a new compilation disc for Robert Kennedy's Waterkeeper Alliance foundation. ANyways, to make a long ramble short, check out this THursday gig at the Dakota its good.
