His first solo album, Black Snake Diamond Role, picks up pretty much where his work with the Soft Boys left off, even to the point of employing most of his former bandmates. Still, this suits the material, particularly the manic "Brenda's Iron Sledge" and the lovely, semipsychedelic "Acid Bird." Hitchcock's musical and lyrical styles have drawn influence from his appreciation of Bob Dylan, John Lennon and Syd Barrett. Hitchcock's lyrics have proved a central thrust of his work, and tend to include surrealism, comedic songs, characterizations of fictional English eccentrics and melancholy depictions of everyday life. The underlying themes of much of his output from the start of his career include what many psychologists view as the roots of modern neurosis - namely, death, sex and eating. [Recognising this theme, he released an EP in 2007 called "Sex, Food, Death and Tarantulas".] WEB: http://www.robynhitchcock.com/ http://www.yeproc.com/artist_info.php?artistId=171 http://www.myspace.com/robynhitchcock http://www.robynhitchcock.com/softdiscography.htm Edited October 2, 2007 by Guest

Esau.
Looks like a great show Brody, sorry I can't make it, as seems to be the trend lately for me unfortunately. Yep Roc seem to really have made their mark over the last 10 years, loads of great artists on that label.
