John Lennon DVD Extravaganza Due Before The Holidays

John Lennon fans will soon have another valuable item to add to their memorabilia collections. The Lennon Legend DVD, featuring unseen footage and other exciting snippets, will be released in Canada on November 4.

Yoko Ono, Lennon’s widow and executive producer of the DVD, dove into her extensive archive to compile material to use in the film. Modern-day technology has allowed original video footage to be restored and music to be remastered in 5.1 surround sound. According to Ono, the DVD is as comprehensive and inclusive as they come.

"This is as definitive a collection as it is possible to be," says Ono. "John’s life was an amazing one, and one that I feel privileged to have been part of. Compiling this DVD has been a very emotional experience: unearthing rare footage, watching it increase in clarity before my eyes, reliving hundreds of memories that were part of our lives and which are now being passed on to a new generation."

Some of these hidden gems include "Everybody Had A Hard Year" (an excerpt from John and Yoko’s Film #6 which features a never-before-seen December 1968 performance by the couple) and a live performance of "Imagine" filmed at the Salute To Lew Grade concert in 1975, Lennon’s last-ever live performance.

Other highlights include the new videos for "Working Class Hero" (filmed at Lennon’s childhood home and school in Liverpool), "Beautiful Boy (Darling Boy)" (filmed April 20, 1980, a relaxed day at John and Yoko’s mansion in Coldspring Harbour, Long Island) and "Give Peace A Chance" (featuring the "Bed-In" footage from May 1969). Fans can also look forward to protest footage and the December 14, 1980 vigils in Liverpool, London and New York – which had tens of thousands of protesters singing "Give Peace A Chance."
