"By this time I had fallen in love with Keith (Godchaux)but I'd literally never talked to him...-We got to Carol's house and she called up Keith, who lived near her, and invited him over. So the four of us- Carol's old man Pete was there too- sat around and listened to the Grateful Dead. Keith and I didn't talk to each other. At the end of the night, Carol and Pete went to bed adn Keith went to put on his coat and leave. I was standing on the other side of the room looking at him. Then, instead of leaving we started walking toward each other- it was just like you'd see on TV (laughs)- and then we hugged. He said, "I love you!" I said, "I love you too!"
