On Saturday, January 21, 2012, The Back-Talk Organ Trio (live recordings of which can be found here) will be playing at Irene's Pub in Ottawa, ON.

The trio is comprised of Don Cummings (Hammond B3), Chris Swain (guitar), and Mike Essoudry (drums); joining the trio this week will be Iyono Ede on vocals, and Ian Babb on saxophone.

The cover charge is $10 at the door.

The group plays a mix of R&B, soul and jazz: their sound is rooted in the '50s and '60s grits-n-gravy organ-combo tradition, but integrates elements of modern gospel, Latin, and experimental music. Although they enjoy playing smaller, intimate rooms, the trio also feels at home in larger, dancefloor-ready settings where, for parts of the night, they have the option of pulling out the stops and getting on the goodfoot. To get larger rooms moving, R&B diva Iyono Ede typically joins the group, as does alto sax player Ian Babb.
