  1. Robert Plant & Alison Krauss, who took home awards in the Record of the Year, Album of the Year and Best Pop Collaboration With Vocals categories.

What's the difference between record of the year and album of the year?

  2. From Jambands.com:

Mickey Hart, The Flecktones, Robert Plant & Alison Krauss Win Big at the Grammys

Last night, the 51st annual Grammy Awards were held in Los Angeles. A number of artists regularly profiled on the site were honored throughout the night, including Robert Plant & Alison Krauss, who took home awards in the Record of the Year, Album of the Year and Best Pop Collaboration With Vocals categories. Likewise, Bela Fleck---who has won awards in more categories than any artist in Grammys history---continued his winning streak with a Best Pop Instrumental Album nod for the Flecktones’ Jingle All The Way, while Mickey Hart---who received the first World Music Grammy in the early 1990s---was awarded Best Contemporary World Music Album for the Global Drum Project’s most recent release.

Other familiar faces that walked home winners included: Kings Of Leon (Best Rock Performance by a Duo Or Group With Vocals), The Mars Volta (Best Hard Rock Performance), Zappa Plays Zappa (Best Rock Instrumental Performance), Chick Corea & Gary Burton (Best Jazz Instrumental Album, Individual or Group), The Blind Boys Of Alabama (Best Traditional Gospel Album), B.B. King (Best Traditional Blues Album), Dr. John And The Lower 911 (Best Contemporary Blues Album), Pete Seeger (Best Traditional Folk Album) and Burning Spear (Best Reggae Album). Also of note, MGMT, whose roots trace back to the Tennessee jamband Accidental Mersh, received a nod when Justice won the Best Remixed Recording, Non-Classical for a remix of their hit “Electric Feel.â€

  3. The Steve Martin album is pretty good. Only one comedy song and lots of instrumentals. I knew he played banjo in his early stand-up days but I didn't know what a pro he was.

Blurry: do you have much Bill Keith? I've got the "Something borrowed..." album which is awesome and a couple other things but his stuff seems to be hard to find or non-existent.

  4. Promoters Cancel Langerado

Langerado has been cancelled. A message posted on the festival's website stated the following:

The 2009 Langerado Music Festival has been cancelled due to sluggish ticket sales.

Langerado’s independent local promoters, faced with a very tough decision in a dismal economy, cancelled the 2009 event only after every possible option was exhausted.

As Langerado Co-Promoter Ethan Schwartz explains, “Langerado has always put the fan experience first. Unfortunately, during these difficult economic times, and facing a first year in a new venue, it’s become apparent that we cannot execute a production that lives up to the high standards of our past events. Putting Langerado on hold was the toughest decision we have ever had to make. We are very grateful for the support of the greater-Miami community and the music community during this difficult time.â€

  5. mccartney's touring his electronic album if i'm not mistaken.... wonder if he just sticks to that or pulls out Wings and Beatles stuff...

I listened to the new album (The Fireman: Electric Arguments) yesterday and I kinda like it. I don't know what Paul's fanbase will think of it though.
