nice Dave!

i so badly wanted to see Bruce. been way too long. ditto for steve earle.oh well....

a great show and a pleasant diversion from a very stressful week of packing and moving. Great to see a bunch of you, if not all too briefly. We leave for Paris on Monday. As much as I want to go to the folk festival, there are just still too many things to get done. and i desperately need some sleep.
See y'all in two years!
And if you are ever in Paris let me know.
-
Due to the recent demand for tickets there's more available at Elmdale, there now.
This show will also be over by a somewhat reasonable time (about 12:30), for all you working folks.
Chrs!
that's good to hear. i've had about 5 hrs of sleep over the last two days. any idea what time they are starting?
-
there was no stream at 11:30 PM. assumed that it had already ended.
-
There's no love, compassion or positive energy associated w/ ICP
that's at least the way it comes across to me. I think that's why that scene kind of freaks me out.
-
juggaloes scare me. that whole festival scares me.

actually, you can take the kitties in the cabin with you. no need to drug them. you just need a small carrier that fits under the seat.
it's moot anyway as the landlord confirmed no pets. So, they will be living in Alymer for two years. We'll be in France. They will be in Quebec. We can all work on our French.
-
i grabbed tix from ticketweb. how is the show not sold out? marco sold the place out by himself.

Good luck finding kitty-sitters - I've been asking everyone I know. I'd take them myself but I just socialized a new one from an email that circulated at work with my previous psycho-kitty. It was touch-and-go there for a bit, but I think it's working out quite well now
thanks - it's much appreciated.
we have, however, found somebody to take them.
(Now I'm trying to see if there is any way we can take them, as I'm really gonna miss them.)
-
Good luck! I would take them, but I won't be home from Korea until after you have already left.
when are you back? and will you be in Ottawa?
we've got two questionable possibilities right now. A neighbour who likes cats, but her husband has issues with cats. If they cause any trouble (like jump on counter, which they don't generally do, but you never know) things won't go well.
The other maybe have a son who has tested positive for cat allergies, although he's never had any issues being around cats. If they decide to take the cats they won't know if there are any issues until after we leave as the kids are away visiting their grandparents until the day before we leave.
So, we have two maybes, but they both may end up as temporary homes.
There has to be a cat lover out there that can provide a loving home for these two kitties.

Hippie Birdies Dave!

they are really cute kitties...really....

this seems to be a trend. unfortunately, this one resulted in deaths.

We are moving to Paris, France at the end of the month for two years (I will be working at the OECD). The apartment that we are renting won't allow pets. So, we need to find a home for Althea and Lilly for that time.
They are 5 year old grey (short-haired) tabby sisters. They are very loving and friendly kitties. How many cats do you know that will roll over on their back and have you rub their belly? That is Althea. They have never been separated so we want to keep them together.
We will pay for food and vet visits.

I have to say, $18.50 to see SMMD there is pretty damn sweet still.
I was thinking that as I was typing that post. but still, I'd rather not give the extra $s to ticketweb/ticketmaster if I don't have to.
-
any chance tickets will be available at the venue, or elsewhere ahead of time? I'd like to avoid the ticket service charges. tix end up being $18.50 there.

thanks for the link!

Severe weather hit the stage as Cheap Trick was performing at the Ottawa Bluesfest tonight. The stage blew down and collapsed. Everyone is shaken up but band and crew are all fine.
Cheap Trick hopes that everyone who attended the show is also ok.
Robin says “Fortunately the band and crew are all lucky to be alive and we’ll see you down the road. And all the best to our truck driver Sandy.â€

just saw a press conference. 3 injures - all now released from hospital.

The Sunday evening programming at Cisco Ottawa Bluesfest was cancelled after a violent storm caused the main stage to collapse and forced thousands to seek shelter in the Canadian War Museum.
Bluesfest videographer Alex Gebethner, 24, was atop the tower in front of the main stage with a group of people, including Ottawa Mayor Jim Watson, when the tornado-force winds hit around 7:20 p.m.
Cheap Trick was about 20 minutes into their performance, but was able to get off the stage safely.
Another videographer was about to descend the steep stairs when a gust of wind nearly swept him off the 50-foot tower. Gebethner said someone, likely a mayor’s aide, grabbed him, and probably saved his life. “I haven’t been this close to death in a while,†said an obviously rattled Gebethner.
Bluesfest official Joe Reilly said one person suffered a broken leg. He said there were no serious injuries.
Reporters on the scene say the festival grounds outside the Canadian War Museum are being evacuated and police have surrounded the fallen stage. People are taking cover inside the museum.
The scene is one of panic, as family members are trying desperately to re-connect with each other.
Citizen reporter Chris Cobb was on scene and said the storm came in the form of dark clouds and violent wins from the Ottawa River, blew into the MBNA stage and it collapsed immediately.
The band Cheap Trick ran from the stage seconds before the stage collapsed and their road crews emerged minutes later to rescue instruments. The drum kit appeared to be holding up, Cobb said.
Concertgoer Tayleigh Armstrong witnessed the stage collapse.
“Cheap Trick was playing and they kind of just finished playing ‘I want you to want me’ and then … the storm came out of nowhere, like two minutes it started looking cloudy and then the stage just like crumbled and collapsed backwards,†she said.
The storm wreaked havoc in other parts of the city, with multiple power outages and water rescues being reported.

I pray to god no one died.
that was my first thought as I saw the stage go down.
I was hanging out close to the stage, and my kids were near the sounboard on a blanket. I noticed it getting dark really fast, and then felt a raindrop. I got back to the blanket as soon as I could. we were getting our stuff together, during some crazy winds, when I turned around to see what was happening on the stage and bang, it just went down from right to left, and a bit backwards. At least it didn't go into the crowd. But that was very scary.

cheap fucking trick tonight!!
it's criminal that they are only getting 60 minutes, but I will be enjoying all of it (well, except for the flame, cause that song still sucks).
courtyard hounds should be really good. they are the dixie chicks, minus natalie maines. very talented, bluegrassy music.

I've had that same issue for a while now on my laptop.
but what all the others said - glad it's back. I've had no internet at home for over two weeks (welcome to France), so it's been hard to keep up with things.
