Molson said it will look at expanding Creemore sales to other parts of Canada, as well as increasing the Ontario-based craft brewer's marketing spending.

Molson said the acquisition will give it a position in the growing domestic super-premium segment, adding that the Creemore brand image and brewing craft will remain unchanged.

"Molson's intention is for Creemore to continue operating as a distinct organization benefiting from its own people, knowledge, recipes and marketing methods," said Kevin Boyce, the president and CEO of Molson Canada.

Based in the small Ontario town for which it is named, Creemore employs about 50 people. The company dates back to 1987.

Molson's acquisition of Creemore marks the latest move by Canada's larger beer companies to buy smaller breweries that make premium-priced beer. In June 2004, Sleeman completed the takeover of Quebec beermaker Unibroue.javascript: markup()

  2. MEDESKI, MARTIN & WOOD

    Opening act: "Young Philadelphians"

(Marc Ribot, Grant Calvin Weston and Jamaaladeen Tacuma)

Medeski Martin & Wood had been packing ‘em in for four consecutive years at the Festival before taking a break in 2004. The ensemble is back again with its most electrifying creation ever, End of the World, featuring sounds somewhat more elaborate and pop-oriented. The show will spotlight special guest Marc Ribot, an extraordinarily versatile guitarist who collaborated on the album. The opening act will feature Ribot with the dynamic trio ‘Young Philadelphians, which includes amazing free-funk bassist Jamaaladeen Tacuma and the awesome Grant Calvin Weston on drums. Together they’ll be serving up an amalgam of progressive jazz and funk.

Looking like a good weekend to go to Montreal!

  3. Yeah, what D_Rawk said. I think TMNS will be the place we'll be. A case of Lucky and a little GD tribute action just down the road seems like a good idea. Since the snow melted, I think we have enough empties to grab a case!

  4. Personally I hate Morrissey. All he does is whine and bitch about how sad and lonely he is, and he just sits on my couch all day, and eats my food. Would it kill him to tidy up a little or maybe do some dishes or buy his own weed!

That's some funny sh!t. I've hated that guy since he moved in. Him and Elton John living in Scotty's crawl space. Dude you've gotta take control of your place!

  5. The guy almost didn't open the door to let me in to the Mac's because he said I looked "suspicious"...

LOL, I think that guy's suspicious. Monday was a little sketchy. One too many indie smokes this weekend. On the plus side, we found out Gracie's has 9 cent wings on Monday nights.
