I have to back Steve up here. Flag burning is an acceptable form of protest of serious national issues that have gone wrong. It is freedom of expression and must be tolerated.

Free expression and free speech are not synonymus with popular speech.

Further is Steven Harper continues to tarnish our countries reputation by commiting more troops to the "Amercian agenda" in the middle east, I could forsee myself buring a Canadian flag at a demonstartion. Serious porblems call for serious protest.

I agree that burning YOUR OWN nations flag should symbolize your demand for dramatic change in YOUR OWN country. BUT the problem lies with the fact that the vast majority of people in North America don't see it that way. Instead they see it as a form of HATE. And this causes the political divide to get even wider.

A lot of people in this world are very patriotic to their country and certain symbols that stand for their country. By burning their flag and saying you think that their ideals should be burnt or disapear in this world does not help our society get better.

I have some friends that are right leaning individuals. Religious, pro-war, and very close minded to any other ideals. If they saw the burning flag they would probably say " Go smoke yer crack in a ditch you dirty hippy" and then they would have yet another reason to be closeminded about anybody they see as being left wing loonies.

I also know a whole lot of good, down to earth people tthat would just see flag burning as ignorant and this forum is proving that.

Our society will never change if we continue to stoop down to their level. It just validates their own ideals.

If you like Thai Food, both of these places are excellent.

Salad King - On Gould Street just East of Yonge (one block north of Dundas) Cheap Thai food that tastes really good. 8 dollars will fill you and they have a good spice scale from 1-20. I suggest no higher than 3 for the first time. Suggested dish would be the Golden Curry Chicken or Shrimp. DELICIOUS!!! I might go today.

Bangkok Paradise - Its almost double the price but its worth it. The best Thai food in town. I think its located around queen and Bathurst. On queen street.

HoSu Bistro - Japanese and Koren food. across the street from Much Music. Has some really good dishes for under 10 dollars. My favorite is called Chicken Bo Bim Bop or something like that. Its a Bar B Q chicken with rice, egg, noodles, veggies and other good stuff, all inside a big stone bowl that keeps it warm while you eat. They also have sushi which I hear is good but I don't like sushi.

If your looking for something fancy to bring a lady to, I would suggest the Flamenco Tapas Bar. On Danforth Avenue by Broadview. If your not familiar with Tapas it is a must try. The concept is that you and your significant other order a number of different dishes and share them. 6 - 8 different dishes is a suggested dinner size. It is all unbelievable Spanish Food. Also during your meal you have a spanish guitar player and a beautiful Flamenco dancer performing for you. Its not cheap though. Your looking at about $130 for a cheap wine and about 7 dishes.

Another place thats not cheap but worth it if you've never done it is the CN tower restaurant. The food is decent. And it is a cool view. with wine your looking at about $130 for 2 but if you've never been up the CN tower before this is the way to do it. Atleast you get a good meal out of the deal instead of $45 just to go up a long elevator ride.

Hope this helps. One of the best things about Toronto is all the awesome food.

I can blame Quinn. We had an excellent Olympic team this year, maybe not good enough to win gold but definitely good enough to score some goals and be competitive. They didn't even show a glimpse of their potential throughout the whole tournament. I blame that solely Quinn, it is a coaches job to find chemistry between players and supply a coaching stategy to keep the games competitive.

Let's be serious. Caspien could have coached the team in 2002 and we still would have won.

I think I could have coached the Leafs to the cup a few times in the past 10 years. :smirk:

Honestly, the leafs had many chances on many good teams over the past 10 years and they blew it. the last season before the lockout I said to a friend that this is the last chance for the Leafs to win the cup because they are gonna have to rebuild, their too old with almost no rising stars.

The fact is Pat Quinns coaching style does not work in the new NHL and that was proven by both the season AND the olympics.

how did the olympic game change between 2002 and 2006? it wasnt the "NEW" olympics this year...

They used the same rule changes on obstruction calls, so yes it was the new olympics. The fact is with obstruction taken out of the picture it is tougher to grind out a win. Hockey is more focused on speed, which I personally like. And in order to be a good defenseman you have to have speed and good positioning. You can't hook and grab from behind whenever a player doesn't have the puck anymore.

Correct me if Im wrong, but I think JFJ only been there a few years. I think they should give him a chance to redeem himself, given the fact that nobody knew how the NEW NHL would play out. The fact is Pat Quinns coaching style does not work in the new NHL and that was proven by both the season AND the olympics. I think its much easier to change a GMs philosophy then it is to change a coaches coaching style.

I've never liked Pat Quinns coaching style anyway, and I enjoyed watching the Leafs suffer through his poor ice management skills and neverending chemistry and dressing room problems.

It was a great year but I wish it was a bit closer. There was a few weeks there when Booche made a good run at it and if it weren't for your injurys it would have been a lot closer.

As far as what music I like, the word everything sort of sums it up. I would appreciate it if everybody picked music that they particularly like. I am actually looking forward to hearing what you all listen to.

It's not that silly to ask that question, it is a tough answer to explain. But here goes. If you still don't understand I would suggest looking in the help section of fantasy baseball or waiting for someone else to do a better explanation on this site.

Here is how the waiver list works. Right now if you go to Add Players, you will see that there is a number of players that were not selected in the draft. The whole league has free reign over these players but when you add a player you will be asked to drop someone to keep in line with the amount of players allowed on each team. But what if 2 teams want the exact same player at the same time? This is where each teams waiver ranking comes into play. If anyone has a higher # ranking then you and try to pick up the same player, then they get the player and their # ranking will become last in the league. Now the thing is, all of these players will be on waivers for 3 days from the time of the draft, which means if 2 people go for one player within those three days then they give the player to the higher ranked team. After the 3 day period the players will become free agents where it is literally first come first serve. ALSO, if you drop a player from your team, at anytime in the season, they go on the waiver list for 3 days before they become a free agent. Its kind of complex but its fair because everyone has a chance at any player that is cut from a team, as long as they notice within 3 days.

By the way the current waiver ranking is just the reverse of the draft that happened today. Ie. I picked 8th overall in the draft, now my waiver # is 12, the person who drafted 1st overall has a waiver ranking of 20. Everytime you successfull pick up someone off waivers your ranking will go down to 20 and everyone else moves up.

Too bad you missed it. It seemed to go well and it only took 2 hours. Im not sure how good the turnout was but it seemed liked about half or more was there.

BUT the problem we have is that for some reason (maybe because we're not paying for the league) is that we can't start voting at 6pm on Sunday March 26th (this is the only day that doesn't allow this time.)The latest we can start the draft that day is at 11:30am. I am going to pick this time temporarily. We could have it the next day at 6pm or the previous day maybe at 2pm. If I get overwhelming interest to change the day and time I will, otherwise the Draft date and time is 11:30am Sunday, March 26th.

I hate getting up early on Sundays but it might be the only flexible option.

Thanks for joining the league. I really wasn't expecting to fill all the spots. i guess there is more baseball fans then I expected. Well this should prove to be an interesting pool, with so many teams we're going to be dealing with a lot of batting 8th & 9th in the lineup role players. And the waiver/free agents available are going to be slim. This fits in nicely with the way that I set up the scoring system. I tryed to make it so every aspect of baseball has value (except defense because good defense can't be measured well by statisitics), runs, hits, doubles, triples, HRs, walks, RBIs, Sacrifice Flys, Stolen Bases, Bunts all count and Strikeouts, Ground into Double Play (GIDP) Caught stealing, cause negative points. I also made it so the point value for star pitchers are just as valuable as star hitters. In the league settings area you can see all the values for each statistic.

The prizes go like this:

Every team loses 2 cds at the most

1st place gets 10 cds (from 2nd - 11th place)

2nd place get 7 cds (from 12th - 18th place)

3rd place gets 2 cds (from 19th -20th place)

Last place gets 1 cd (from 1st place)

Jambands vs Jamhub:

We have 10 teams from each site.

take the total points from the top 6 teams from each site.

The reason I say the top 6 is because their is always teams that lose interest and stop updating their teams.

Whomever has the most points wins.

If jamhub wins,

why cant we just say we're having a live draft, if you cant make it, you forfeit your opportunity and your team gets autopicked and you live with it - like a GM getting fucked with a low payroll budget - ya gotta work with it...

My proposal is sort of like revenue sharing, It gives the low budget teams a realistic shot so they don't give up and sell their teams.

Im fine with that too. Either way works for me. Once we have all 20 teams signed up I'm going to send out an email with the options (my proposal / all autopick / Live Draft if you can't make it thats your loss).

We'll decide it by vote.

If anybody has any other ideas let me know,

Some people on jamhub.ca think it might be unfair to have some people live draft and some people autopick, I tend to agree.

I'm thinking of having a vote on the issue. I was also thinking of having a time limit and the rest should autopick once you log off. I do agree that it might be unfair and I was also thinking, instead of having a 1st and 2nd place, have a 1st place autopick & 1st place live draft aswell, where both teams split the winning CDs.
