I'll have to check out So Good sometime very soon.
I've been doing the Sushi Zone thing, and yes, it's fast and decent enough, but not adventurous. Lately I've been getting sushi from Bento--on Rideau near the Vanier Parkway--but the location is a bit of bitch to get to from work and home.
My companion last Saturday is much better judge of sushi that I am, and he deemed Bento quite reasonable for fast-food sushi. In particular, he noted the salad that comes with the meal for two (and four, I believe). It's a garden salad with bits of fish and nori, served with a ginger and rice vinegar dressing (sweet and tangy).
Me, I thought the fare was tastier and significantly more varied than that at Sushi Zone, but the range of items is still in line with a fast-food place (that is, you'd get more variety at an expensive restaurant). I really enjoyed the smoked eel, and the salmon sashimi was decently fresh. No nori on the California rolls, but I think I prefer Bento's sprinkling of sesame seed coating. I think they put cucumber in them, too.
All in all, I'll be back there more often than my schedule will allow :>
I don't know much about Dim Sum. I've had it at the Yangtze on Somerset. It's good, but I understand that it's pricey (I have nothing to compare it to, really, since I haven't done Dim Sum enough). The regular menu is *large* and the food is of reasonable quality, but I think I'm more wowed by the novelty factor of some of the dishes. Salted octopus? Sure, I'll try that ...
Thai: The Chaophraya on Carling is very nice. Anyone been to the Sweet Basil on Bank?

... Are there any decent Japanese restaurants in Ottawa? I'm sick of pizza (for now) and I'd really like a plateful of *different* food groups I can't identify and have to eat with sticks (oh yeah, hilarity ensues ...).
I am waaay too omnivorous. Wait a month, then I'll be going ape looking for the ultimate molé sauce or deep fried ice cream or sauerkraut perogies or something. Gah.

Ah, my malt beverages guardian angel ... always keeping my alcohol-based interests in mind.
Being a trog, I would turn down the jets first, although blocking them can be more fun, depending on the pressure setting.
No worries. Have you ever known me to waste single-malt scotch?
-
Eh, I'm far better at being single, especially when I'm surrounded by attractive men, good music and single-malt scotch (scotchen?) ... all within reach in a jacuzzi.

Marry me, doubleB.
On second thought, I like you too much for that.

He'd have to bleach his retinas to *avoid* remembering us.

Okay, Bug, it's yours.
Mind you, this leaves me in the lurch. (And Lurch, he isn't too happy about it.)
Hmm. This certainly outclasses all of the other problems in my life.

... and, of course, I'm busy on the 24th.
Bradm, quaff a quaff and groove a groove for me, willya?

CFRC is streaming now, eh?
Things sure have changed from when I was there, back in the vinyl days--the albums, not my wardrobe. Much.

My avatar looks kinda like me, I guess ...
*shrug*

Drums and Tuba have a good groove, interesting and very danceable.

But aren't all cartoons for kids? (g,d,r) (Says the fan of Golgo 13 ...)

Crazy Bisexual adventures, hoorah!
Oh, *so* much more appropriate for the wee bairns. :> I've watched more Ranma 1/2 than I care to admit.

(You know, there's a rating system in effect to keep freaks like me in their place...)
Aww, too bad.

I saw Lord of the Rings yesterday. As in the books, with the exception of the hobbits and the Shire, everything is larger than life. It's as it should be, and all is right with the world.
My companion, who hadn't read the books, was puzzled by the ending. "That's *it*??" Guess I know what to get him for his birthday.

Congrats! *Only* triplicate? I seem to recall making five copies of mine, but that was a billion years ago.

Anyone here like the Newport?

Gentlemonkey ...
Nope, the single-CD version doesn't have "Bouree." Perhaps the boxed set does.
Added to today's list:
"Industrial Lullaby"--Stephen Fearing
Looked at the liner notes again last night ... I didn't realize that Tom Wilson shared some of the writing credits.
Other Good Stuff:
"Shed"--viperHouse
(Thanks to Bradm for introducing me to the wonder that is viperHouse. And nero. And Dr Huxtable. And ... sorry, I can't give you credit for introducing me to Lagovulin, but I'm always pleased to renew the acquaintance.)

I'm not in much of a groove right now--more like a rut:
"Wish You Were Here"--Pink Floyd
"Pet Your Friends"--Dishwalla
"Aerials"--Enter the Haggis
"20 Years of Jethro Tull" (single disk version)--Jethro Tull (duh!)
"The Final Cut"--Pink Floyd
I soooo need to get out.
You know it's serious when I crack open the Stephen Fearing CDs. The guy makes PF look like KC and the Sunshine Band. (And no, it's *your* vomit, *you* clean it up.)

What's the difference between a cello and a stand-up bass?
The bass burns longer.
The little ones spin better ...
Speaking of raw phish and sticky rice ...

Davey Boy: I think we're talking about the same place.
I'm adding Festival Japan to my list of Must-Try restaurants. Damn, now I have a craving for sushi, and the snowfall is already over my head ...
