  1. we definatley have to reduce our "combustion" reliance but until suitable alternatives are developed ethanol looks like it will be an attractive alternative. I'm not so sure those cities will be competing to get an ethanlol plant. I say it there will likely be a few more ethanol plants going up.

The city of Toronto is planning on building something like a 540mW gas co-gen gas plant. These plants can be put into operation about 1 year after they are started. It will be a quick fix to a big problem of the so called looming energy crisis.

Natural gas supplies, some predict, will only give us another 20 years (yes only 20 years) of energy production. 20 years is also about the max time frame a plant of this scope should last before major repairs would need to be done or scrapped. So this plant should last about as long as our natural gas supplies go.

Gas and Oil companies know this and will grab as much of the remaining revenues there are to be had.

Nuclear Energy seems to be the only alternative right now that can produce the massive energy consumption we now use.

  2. We can only hope ethanol takes off. It's still a comustion process, thus relesing all the evil into the air, but at leat we will be burning a renewable resource. My room mate uses it in his truck and has been very happy so far. Problem of course is that it's still hard to find.

There's talks of an ethanol plant being built in Barrie and maybe a couple other ones. I sure hope thay shake up the oil companies. Like I said earlier though, it's cash grab time for them.

  3. ...top quotes of the night..

and at the after-party on the fittingly titled " ERB STREET " when the police were knocking on the front door...

"Listen up, when the cops show up, stop playing the drums, you stupid hippies!"

    My favorite:

"...The man is at the door, you know, THE MAN ...and if your name is Johnny*; they're looking for you..."

  4. of course it goes on in every governmet. It's been going on in every governemt ever assembled. I believe it's how governemt works. Imagine the wheeling and dealing the Harper governemt is going to have to do in order to get what they want, through. It will only be a matter of time before we hear of corruption, pay-offs and patronage.

  5. Id really like to hit up the may24 this year, not sure if wer can, prety busy with wedding stuff. probably wishful thinking.

I hear ya! Will be in that situation for Labour Day weekend, with wedding the next weekend.

  6. Yes it was a relativley small amount of money, when placed into a world economy context, but so is the amount of money Tom Cruise made for making his last movie and I think we can mostly agree that this was a travesty and way to much money. Martha Stewert went to jail for a year for what, something like a $50,000 transaction. I'm not defending them (especially not Tome Cruise, what a whack job) but scandal is scandal.

and yeah, hopefully no Belinda, I'll chant it with you. However, the point remains, they need a fresh face, with fresh ideas if they ever want to regain the sort of support they once had.

  7. Who wouldn't distance themselves from that job? After all the scandal, the old blooded liberals are reeling right now. I think we'll see a new"ish" type face take over when all is said and done. Perhaps someone like Belinda Stronach. I only say her name because she wasn't a liberal when the sponsorship shite went down. I think it would be better for the party to do this.

It is time they go back to the grass roots of what it means to be politically liberal in this country.

This is exactly what the politically conservative have been doing. After the Mulroney years, when the PC party was in ruins. The Reform party then started to appeal to the conservatives in the west, empahizing the whole time that a grass roots effort is what was needed to rebuild the conservative view. The plan seems to have worked, and will perhaps continue to grow.

I think the Liberals are going to have to take this same sort of mentality if they want to be considered as capable of running the country again.

Personally, I'm disillusioned with the whole political system in our country and in the end, could really give a shit who's the leader of any of the parties. The whole system seems flawed to me but I'll leave that topic for another time.

  8. The bluegrass idea soungs great. While we're at it (being that there is a contingent of maritimers always there) we could get some fiddle stompin goin. Yeah Baby.

  9. I just wanted to say thanks. It was great seeing some old faces and meeting some new old faces and some new new faces.

I was lucky enough to win a CD package at the event. Great music thanks a lot.!! Apparently I signed my name to a ticket, I really don't remember doing such a thing but I'm glad I did.

Thanks to Del for the pre and post party. Thanks to the motel we stayed in too, for not calling the cops and letting us stay until, well you kicked us out in the end, but thanks anyway. lol

Hope to see you all again soon.
