  1. Sounds to me like you gotta go. The discomfort/nervousness you feel will be a temporary thing, but the feelings of regret you could have for not going will probably last alot longer. My advice would be to try and find a seat somewhere near the back. Who knows- you may find someone else there experiencing similar thoughts/feelings as you do and your presence there could have a comforting effect on them. I know it seems hard, but I just get the feeling that you feel you need to be there and will really regret missing it.You have lots of friends who are thinking of you and sending lots of hugs and good vibes your way. Draw the strength you need from that.

  2. posted this last night in another thread: What Can We Do About Terrorism?

written by a Republican (like Bush) who was the director of the Star Wars Program and is a retired Lt. Col. of the Air Force who flew 101 missions in Vietnam... its totally common sense and should have been listened to when it was written in 2001... brilliant piece of writing

That letter does make a lot of sense. I had never really thought about terrorism from that perspective. I could never condone terrorism, but I do believe everyone(including a democratically elected govt) needs to be accountable for their actions, and the first step in resolving any dispute needs to be acknowledgement of both parties of their role in creating the dispute.

  3. Not so much a cure, but more of a prevention idea-I had heard somewhere that if you take a couple Tylenol Cold & Sinus pills before you crash will help ease the hangover symptoms next morning. I have tried this a few times and it does seem to help. Advil Sinus medication seems to work the same magic. I told a friend about this and he now swears by it. Never goes out drinking without taking some sinus pills first. As for easing a hangover once it has hit you, take some vitamin B12, lots of water and try to do something to keep active

  4. and if there are any other festivals around before then... let me know.

While most famous as the vocalist and lead guitarist for the Grateful Dead, Jerry Garcia also had a long and successful solo career. Three decades after his critically acclaimed debut, J.Garcia & Rhino are releasing ALL GOOD THINGS: JERRY GARCIA STUDIO SESSIONS, a boxed set retrospective that includes Garcia, Garcia (Compliments), Reflections, Cats Under The Stars and Run For The Roses. For the first time in 30 years, each of these albums has been remastered and expanded with rarities and unreleased material. This comprehensive collection also includes Outtakes, Jams & Alternates, a bonus disc of even more previously unreleased recordings (all told, the box includes more than four hours of previously unavailable music), as well as new artwork, rare photos and extensive liner notes.

The six-CD ALL GOOD THINGS: JERRY GARCIA STUDIO SESSIONS will be available April 20 at all retail outlets and at www.jerrygarcia.com for a suggested list price of $74.98. Exclusive pre-order information will be available here on April 7.

The legendary guitarist truly went solo with 1972’s Garcia, handling the vocals as well as acoustic guitar, electric guitar, pedal steel guitar, bass, piano and organ duties. The album was co-written by Grateful Dead percussionist Bill Kreutzmann (who plays drums on the record) and longtime Grateful Dead/Garcia lyricist Robert Hunter. The remastered edition of Garcia features the album’s original ten songs plus eight bonus tracks, including alternate takes of “Sugaree” and “Loser.”

For 1974’s Garcia (Compliments), Jerry surrounded himself with top studio musicians and covered songs such as The Rolling Stones’ “Let’s Spend The Night Together,” Van Morrison’s “He Ain’t Give You None” and the Irving Berlin standard “Russian Lullaby.” The remastered edition has ten extra cuts, including a rendition of the Motown classic “(I’m A) Road Runner” and Jimmy Reed’s “I Know It’s A Sin.”

Though a Garcia album, 1976’s Reflections features several tracks recorded by the Grateful Dead during the sessions for 1975’s Blues For Allah sessions, as well as covers of Hank Ballard’s “Tore Up Over You” and Allen Toussaint’s “I’ll Take A Melody.” The reissue adds five previously unreleased outtakes from the original sessions, including a cover of Hank Williams’ “You Win Again.”

The first album released by the Jerry Garcia Band, 1978’s Cats Under The Stars differed from its two predecessors by showcasing all-original material. Up-tempo rockers, gospel interludes and a stunning duet with vocalist Donna Jean Godchaux on “Palm Sunday” make this one a favorite among Garcia fans. The remastered edition includes an alternate take of that track, along with six other bonus cuts.

The 1982 album Run For The Roses was the final solo studio release from Jerry Garcia and includes stunning covers of The Beatles’ classic “I Saw Her Standing There” and Bob Dylan’s “Knockin’ On Heaven’s Door.” Two more Dylan covers (“Simple Twist of Fate,” “Tangled Up In Blue”) appear as bonus tracks on the reissue, along with a rendition of another Beatles tune, “Dear Prudence.”

Outtakes, Jams & Alternates features 12 previously unreleased tracks, among them alternate versions of “Let’s Spend The Night Together” and “Deal,” along with a studio jam rendition of The Dixie Cups’ “Iko Iko” and a cover of Warren Zevon’s “Accidentally Like A Martyr.”

  6. The show wasnt the best Phil has done, but not the worst either. It seemed to go from one extreme to the other-one minute it was fantastic, and the next you were kind of wondering where they goin. The next night at Darien was definitely more consistent. But I think that is a chance you take when paying to see bands that will explore new territories and jam out a bit-sometimes they blow your mind drastically, other times they just blow. The Dead did that as well.
